so what are you saying? he was called up a couple of weeks ago and then right before they head off for their games they decided that onomah's not good enough now so replaced him? @thfcacademy seems to get reliable info and he says onomah has a slight niggle, maybe poch forgot or didn't think it was worth mentioning.

I'm saying it's weird. It was right there in my post i said and i quote "weird".
If he has a niggle that poch didn't mention fair enough but don't start putting words in my mouth.

no, but also in your post was the word dropped, which is suggestive and misleading.

How can you respect Southgate as a manager after coming out with that. If he was to say that he's got players he feels are better than him, then fine, it's his choice and that's a footballing decision. But to come out and say that his decision was based on the fact that it's the other players last chance to go, smacks of sentimentalism and is completely unprofessional.

If he wants him to be a leader next time around then gaining the experience from this tournament is vital. His reason doesn't make sense to me.
Getting him back for not joining in for the friendliest as he wanted to stay and train at Spurs to improve himself. Very disappointed in Southgates decision. I like Dier and feel he will get better and better.

He could be dropped through injury, he could be dropped because he called the manager a prick, he could be dropped because poch did a deal that if kane goes to the u21 the onomah and dier stay home. I don't know. That's why i said it's weird because poch said we had no injuries.

I remember Southgate's first management job at Middlesborough which he cocked up royally. It amazes me how the "Old boys" network still works otherwise why else would he be chosen as England's under 21 manager.
As someone else mentioned, an absolute clown and definitely not worthy of the post he currently has.

Nice excuse but he obviously doesn't rate him high enough as he is going with his strongest players to win it, not just a fun bit of experience
Because Wilshire and Sterling arnt part of that 'strong' squad?

More likely has added perspective, if needed, that Southgate does not know what he is doing. If he wants to win the tournament why has he picked Championship defenders, and Chambers and Liam Moore who cant get a game for Arsenal and Leicester respectively, ahead of one of the best young defenders in the PL?

Michael Keane is a much more established player than Eric Dier. I have seen a lot of Ben Gibson and he is a much better player than Dier currently. I can't speak much of Moore but Chambers has featured in 23 games for Arsenal as opposed to Dier's 28 for us, and is clearly a more talented and better player than Dier.

Dier isn't good enough to be waxed lyrical about, the sooner we accept that the better. If he was, Southgate wouldn't be using excuses about him being available in two years time. If he was as good as you lot think, then he should be pushing for the main National team anyway by then.

Soputhgate has used that as consolation for Dier, not a reason for him being dropped. Ultimately, Southgate thinks the other defenders are either better than him or would benefit more from this tournament than he would. I personally think it's a mixture of the two.

Oh well, use this to have a nice rest this summer Eric....you can lightly work-out in the off season as well so that you can really impress Mauricio come August.

Main Man did Dier steal your gf off you or something? you seem to have quite a dislike for the man that clouds your judgement, either that or you cant have gone to many games

Dier was immense last season

Dier is a good young player, but to suggest he was "immense" last season is ludicrous.

Name one game where he was "immense" last season?

I have said it all along, and people don't like, but Caulker was twice the centre back this guy was at the same age.

Disagree completely

Caulker had the physical attributes, but made Hudd seem like Usain Bolt, and he was clumsy too

Dier has pace, heart, awareness, can cross a ball, leadership skills

In 5 years time he will be captain of club and country imho

I would love to agree with you but you are are million miles away from reality.

Caulker was an outstanding talent whom we didn't make the most of for whatever reason.

Dier is a talented individual, but to suggest he can go from not making the England U21s at 21 to captaining Spurs and England within five years is a bold statement to make.

We can come back to this in five years time...

But you still haevn't named a game in which Dier was "immense" last season?

Michael Keane played 18 games for a team that got relegated. Liam Moore was not used for most of the season in a team that just avoided relegation. Callum Chambers hardly featured at all in the second half of the season in an Arsenal team that greatly improved, especially in defence. And are you seriously comparing Championship defenders, who have to face the likes of Troy Deeney at best, to the players that Dier has to face week in and week out in the PL?
Its obvious that you don't rate Dier and therefore cant have a reasoned discussion, because your argument just does not make any sense I'm afraid.
