Really depressing time to be a Spurs fan. His attitude is that bad that Ramos doesn't believe he can play him.........................EVEN THOUGH HE'S BEEN ON 60,000 A WEEK??????!!!!! AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!!

Why should people that work their arses off, to support a family, do overtime to just about be able to afford a season ticket...pay idiots like this stupid money just to not even be up for playing because he wants a move????!!!!! It's sick and it's fucked up!!

You could share that 60,000 a week's worth... out between 60 people in WHL, and make their Xmas pretty bloody good.

I'm so insulted by his attitude.

He's right y'know.

I was really disappointed losing on Saturday but Berbatov going M.I.A. made me angry. Villa fans seem to have accepted Barry back to the fold after his comments to the papers but I just can't see any way that will happen here.

I get a bit amplified at times, and do say (type) on here what I think too much, hence my negative reputation status. Which I've always apologised for when I've pissed someone off. But situations like this, really do my head in!!! Players treat their clubs like shit, find it so morally wrong.

Anyone know Adriano's status at Inter these days?? Big, powerful strong, forward that had pace....might like the Faces/Essex nightlife every weekend a bit too much with the Hudd, Jenas, O'Hara, King and Lennon but if he could be available I reckon he's worth going for.

In a way the club is to blame for letting the situation gather pace to end up like it has with Berbatov-if he was tapped like we have claimed, than it should have been reported asap.

If the club was seen to be more stringent IE stating that Berbatov has X amount of time on his contract and was not for sell at any price, instead of allowing a figure to be formed and basically saying he can go if X amount his paid, we wouldn't have this situation.

It would never be admitted by others but for me I respected Sol Campbell for finishing his contract with the club. He served us well and decided to progress his career away from THFC which was fair enough because we were going nowhere fast.

He missed up by moving to Ar5ena1. If he'd moved to any other club but them he would have been remember much better.

Berbatov has shown a lack of class in my books.

i can't really comment on berb as he has been a disgrace and this situation has to be dealt with seriously as it will put football in a very bad shape.
if a player can't honour his contract then the game is going down hill.

I am fully aware that for every ying there is a yang, but while I am able to be objective, the overwhelming feeling of dissappointment has glued my Spurs eyes firmly in their sockets. Maybe Giovani and Modric will prove to be wonderful wonderful players, and we will replace Keane and Berbatov with equally magnificent players. Maybe a defensive midfielder will come and lead our midfield to glory. But from now on, forever, I choose to love no other player, only the club, because I do not want to risk feeling like this ever again. If I ever love a player again it will only be after his retirement when he has proven himself over a number of years and left us in a dignified way which both benefits himself and the club.

I will enjoy the brilliance of individuals, but love, that no longer exists for a footballer. Because a footballers love of a fan dissappeared with the introduction of the Premier League and Sky Sports and all the money.

I learned this lesson when Gazza signed for Lazio. It's just the way of it.

Nothing new, but an interesting read.
£30m or Berbatov will stay with us, warn Spurs

</EM>
By Jason Burt

Tottenham Hotspur have told Dimitar Berbatov that he is running the risk of "rotting in the reserves" for a season unless Manchester United pay the transfer fee being demanded for the striker.

The stark warning was delivered yesterday to Berbatov and his agent, Emil Dantchev, by the club, who are adamant that the minimum transfer fee they will accept for the 27-year-old is £30m. Spurs say they will not budge on that figure.
If United refuse to pay the fee, then Spurs insist they will not sell and Berbatov will remain their player, even though he has handed in a transfer request and spoken openly about his "dream" of moving to Old Trafford. If he then continues to be disruptive, he will be consigned to the reserves for the rest of the campaign. Before Saturday's Premier League match against Sunderland Berbatov claimed he was not "psychologically" fit and was dropped from the squad.
Similar threats have been made to players in the past and are rarely carried through, not least because of the legalities surrounding such moves and the risk that is run in the player's value plummeting. But Spurs insisted yesterday that they were determined to stand their ground and would punish Berbatov if they had to.
The irony for United is that it was claimed over the summer that Sir Alex Ferguson was given the backing by the Glazer family, the club's owners, to take a similarly hard-line stance with Cristiano Ronaldo – a parallel which has probably not been lost on Spurs which is why they may want the same message to be broadcast about Berbatov.
What is certain is that Spurs are particularly angry that United have continually indicated they will raise their bid of £20.5m for Berbatov, which was rejected earlier this summer, but have not done so while suggesting they are not prepared to go beyond £25m. As of yesterday there still had not been an official confirmation that, with the transfer window closing at midnight next Monday, United had submitted a new bid.
Spurs are also annoyed that United have suggested that they must drop their complaint that they made an illegal approach for the Bulgarian. Spurs regard this as a ridiculous demand, especially as they secured an apology, and a donation to charity, from Liverpool after a similar complaint over their courting of Robbie Keane, who eventually left for £19m.
The Spurs board has investigated whether there are grounds for fining Berbatov because of his behaviour but the sanction has not been carried out as the player has not refused to train or play. It was, ultimately, the club's decision to leave him out of the squad to face Sunderland.
Berbatov reported for training again yesterday, just as he did on Sunday, when he was called in for talks with head coach Juande Ramos. The Spaniard (below) is angry and embarrassed by the situation and wants Berbatov to leave but accepts that, with the structure he agreed to work under when he arrived last season, that the club's board are handling negotiations.
Of more immediate concern to him, after losing the first two league games of the season and with Chelsea their next opponents this coming Sunday, is the failure to sign any replacement strikers. Darren Bent is the only available option, although club representatives again watched the Colombian international striker Falcao play and score for Argentinian club River Plate at the weekend. The 22-year-old is available for €15m (£12m) and Spurs may also consider a move for Ajax's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, even though they believe the Dutch international is overpriced.
Spurs insist they are no longer interested in signing Andrei Arshavin. But both the player's representatives and his club, Zenit St Petersburg, still believe that a deal can be struck especially as the asking price for the 27-year-old has been dropped to £20m. Spurs offered £16.5m to Zenit, who have signed Portuguese playmaker Danny, but claim he is not Arshavin's replacement, insisting they wanted £24m.
There have been claims that Berbatov is considering going on strike to try and force through his sale but this has been denied by those close to the player. They make no secret of his unhappiness, and his desire to leave, but are also frustrated that United have not made a decisive move having courted Berbatov for more than a year.
United sources continue to claim that a bid will be submitted before the deadline and it may be that a compromise can eventually be reached if, as with the transfer of Michael Carrick between the two clubs, Spurs' valuation is met by add-ons and incentives.
The £30m fee is itself a revaluation, as Spurs had initially insisted they would not accept less than £32m. But that was when they had hoped United would face competition from other clubs, specifically Barcelona, for the player, who arrived only two years ago for £10.9m from Bayer Leverkusen but who has proved to be one of the stars of the Premier League

I hope this is true.. Not caving in is all I ask for at this point. If they don't stump up the cash then he stays and plays for us. He's our player. I don't give any time to the argument that 'if his heart is not in it we should let him go'. That is BS. He's a professional footballer who we pay astronomical amounts of money to to play for our team. We are under contract to him, and him to us. If players don't like that, they shouldn't sign contract extensions.

I believe we will hold out for our valuation but he shouldn't go to the reserves unless he PROVES he is playing sub par. I rate that probability at near zero as he has never done that and he will need to still play at a high leel to get a future transfer.

No club will want a sulky biatch who plays bad on purpose - who would pay the money for someone who could turn on you and be unprofessional.

I keep reading how you dont want a player who doesn't want to play for you. That is rubbish. Are they children? They signed a contract, he should honour it ESPECIALLY in a sport whre you cannot be cut like football.

We shouldn't be considering selling him to Man U for any price, any squad who we consider better than us. A bottom half premiership team, ok, if they stump the cash, foreign ok if they stump the cash but only if we can get quality in return for said cash that WE WANT.

Man U can cry for the moon and so can Berbs. I want to bang Kate Moss but I'm not going to.

We need to stand firm to send the message we aren't anyone biatch feeder club. Everyone is watching. Everey potential player is watching. If we knuckle than any good player we get will come here, prove he can play at an upper middle club then cry for the top 4 AND GET IT.

Do you like Modric? Say goodbye in 2 years if he keeps playing well if we don't prove we are not the top 4's p*ss boys. Players need to know it's out of the question tat we will sell when it's not in our best interest.

I hate the way Berbatov is behaving. But at the same time, keeping him and then putting him in the reserves is cutting our nose off. It does us no favours, either in the eyes of potential new signings, or financially. Plus we'd just have to deal with this same situation in january.

Either Berbatov is going to leave this week, or there will be a statement saying he's 100% focussed on playing for spurs.

I don't think we really know how he is really behaving - the club is no doubt spinning this situation, however Berbs hasn't helped himself

I was happy enough to take this point of view since it all started but the moment I heard he was not in the squad last Saturday that was it for me. I don't give a flying one about rumours but the fact was he wasn't there to do his job and as much as I believe the club know how to spin things I'm in little doubt that the fucker has screwed us over.

Amusing how if you punch up newsnow there are about ten publications quoting "rot in the reserves" which I have no doubt 'rot' was never said by anyone other than 'journalists' but is now endlessly requoted.

See this is a bit of a toughy for me to get my head around - why is he acting like this?

Acting the way he is means that he's making himself a far less attractive player in regards to harmony in the squad - he's done it here, what happens when he goes to Man U and then finds out that Barca want to pay him twice as much? What, is he going to do the same again and sulk until no-one wants him at Old Trafford as well?

See, that would be insane, he can't be that thick, which leads me to wonder if there is an incentive behind the scenes, offered by SAF and his cronies, for him to basically destroy his character himself and end leaving Spurs in a position to eventually just drop his price to get rid of this bad apple.

Hate thinking like that but i can't make sense of it otherwise

It's down to him and many other footballers living in a different world to us and thinking that some of the behaviour they show is sound and reasonable. Stick him in the reserves and start the revolution that will bring these fuckers back down to earth with a bump.
