hi there everyone. i've noticed a general trend in the last few weeks and in general for most of the season. i can't help but think that some of our players are in the 'comfort zone' and are not too bothered about winning or losing. i think this is part of the problem. if you look at their faces, how many of our players do you think really love the club and care about winning? i couldn't help but notice the smilling and joking around yesterday including chimbonda and kaboul to name but 2. it's something i've noticed for a while actually and i think it's a significant contribution to our general form this season.

to put it frankly, i don't think most of the players are proud to wear the shirt.

I wonder what bill nic would make of some of those muppets?? i hope his quotes are paved in stone in the white hart lane changing rooms..........

"If you don't win anything, you
have had a bad season."

"Spurs have got to be the best in
the land, not the second best."

"If you don't have to drag yourself off the field exhausted after 90 minutes, you can't claim to have done your best."

"Any player coming to Spurs whether he's a big signing or just a ground staff boy must be dedicated to the game and to the club. He must be prepared to work at his game. He must never be satisfied with his last performance, and he must hate losing."

the last quote is especially poignant. how many of our players can you say take notice? if bill nic had these players the vast majority would be kicked out. they are not fit to wear the shirt.

playing football is a job .... i would imagine there are only a few players who play for the clubs they support and love ... I don't expect love of a club from a player and i don't think that because a player doesn't love the club that means they won't put 100% in ...

This season, we look so unprofessional it's unreal. But I think it manifests from the top. There is a serious problem at Spurs at the moment.

ANY player who is 'worthwhile' will always give his all.....be it at Belview Tiwn or Man Utd. THe only reward, for a truly 'great' player, is the knowledge that he can have done no more for his team. I fear that there are few at WHL who can claim to have reached that 'plateau' on a week to week basis. Off hand I can only think of 4 or 5, Keano, Ledley, Malbranque, plus one or two others.
A season of hope has reverted to the normal.....rubbish, but why should we expect anything more! COYS!

More and more footballers are aquiring an attitude nowdays, they dont play to put food on the table and pay the rent anymore, most are already 'made' for life when they are playing in the prem!

they are not fit to wear the shirt.

oh FFS, that tired old chestnut,,, I grant you there may be a couple of players who just turn up for the pay slip, as indeed do most of us at our jobs, but there is certainly a high proportion who give a shit..Robbie Keane for example, runs his arse off every game , Ledley King, injured for years but still determined to get out and play, Steed Malbranque, seemingly possessed this season.. constant running and effort, Tainio.. not a brilliant player but works his socks off, Tony Gardner, again not brilliant but one of our longest serving players and what he lacks in talent he makes up for with effort, Michael Dawson, having a bad season, but last season ran about 20 marathons for us when we had no discernable defence, defoe, personally I dont rate him, but you can't knock the fella for spending half his time on the bench then coming on and doing his damndest to score. For fucks sake even good old Hossam got his front teeth kicked out last year and kept playing.

Do you genuinely think that professional footballers, most of whom have had to work their arses off to get anywhere near the level they're playing at, don't give a fuck?... of course there are a few primadonnas, as indeed there are in any job you can think of, but most sincerely try their best , often in a hostile environment where the slightest mistake is leapt on as some kind of gaping flaw in their ability by muppet fat arsed fans who live vicariously through them because they never had the talent or application to do it themselves

Yes, and we have had this problem for several years. I think it is improving though and I think Ramos is the man to improve it further. He seems to be man that doesn't take any bollocks - like putting Robbo on the bench.

No, I wouldn't say that at all.

Something did really piss me off on Saturday though, this is going to sound really petty & stupid... when Anelka hit the bar late into the 2nd half, Chimbonda was smiling at him & not in a 'ha ha you missed' way.... I told you it was petty..... also after the game he was laughing & joking with him (I know they obviously know each other being fellow country men) but it really annoyed me, I wasn't smiling that we were 2 nil down & they almost scored again so why should he be??? It was like he didn't care that we got beat.

Funnily enough I wasn't gutted that we lost, normally I would be but I sort of had this feeling all through that this was just a game we had to get through before the important cup games.
It's clear that we are not getting anywhere near the Uefa places so the cup games are more important, that added to the fact that we have changed manager with all the upheaval that causes.
Nothing prepares a manager for a game against a team than a previous game, Ramos is basically playing everybody for the first time and I bet when we play chelsea next we will see a tactically improved game whether it's in the cup or league.
I wonder if this is transmitting to the players.

You could say there's an attitude problem I suppose. But I think it could be fixed with a couple of proper leaders on the field who can give the others a good kick up the ass during the game.

You're spot on there. Shimbomba doesn't give a shit about anything other than his next transfer. Now if that is how he wants to be then that's fine, but he can't have that attitude and then bleat in the press that he can't understand why the club is looking to buy a new right back.

I'd like to see him shipped out in the summer for two reasons - firstly I just don't think he wants to be here (he thinks he should be at Manure, or Chelski, or wherever instead because he thinks he is the dog's nuts) and secondly I think he doesn't compliment our style of play because he holds the bloody ball up all the time.
