Not surprised in the slightest if he's picked Juve, but somewhat surprised if he goes there this window after all the noise about wanting to stay until the summer.

If it happens I can only assume the incessant abuse from the ultras and his own board slagging him off and trying to force him out has proved too much.

Can't really blame him if that's the case.

Not sure I can think of an equivalent story in England where a club's best player and top scorer, who has been completely professional, has essentially been hounded out of a club by its own fans and the owner. Very weird.

I think the agent has played a blinder, got the club to turn on the player and want the money so much they'll sell to Juve mid season.

Watch Juve and Fiorentina move in different directions now.

It's what winning clubs do and I'm really starting to think it'll be impossible for us to compete under the current ownership. We can't even wrap up a £20m deal quickly that all parties supposedly want to happen!

JJs info a week or so ago gives me a glimmer of hope as we do have an elite manager, we just need to nail the recruitment. Sadly after recent years my faith in recruitment is at an all time low.

From what I've read, his agent is a bit of cheeky f*cker and has been keeping a lot of things at arms length from his player.

A move to Juve makes a lot of sense and I'm fine with it. He looks a fine player but I definitely had my worries about whether he would adapt to the PL. I wanted him regardless but good luck to him all the same.

Let's let this thread die now.

You would have thought Paratici with all his experience could tell when he was being played by an agent who put his client into the best possible bargaining position. Logic and common sense told you that one of the best prospects in football was never going to join a club that has won one trophy in 20 years and chances of CL football next year were remote. We just simply don't stand a chance with this type of signing and have to try to set our sights on scouting potential before it comes to fruition.
I hope we have'nt wasted time pursuing this deal to the detriment of others and the reputation of Paratici prevails that he has numerous targets lined up for each position that needs recruiting.

I think the whole 'wanting to stay until the summer' was actually 'waiting until Juventus (or another big club) were able to make a move for him' - of course he's going to jump at the opportunity as soon as there's a chance to join a big club.

I guess when you are at Juventus you are more of an apex predator and less likely to get gazumped. No amount of groundwork will seal a deal here. All it needs is an elite club to flash their knickers at the 11th hour and it's all over for us.

I suspect similar will happen with Kessie now too unless we pay over the top for it (which is a risk in itself).

I've spent over 90 minutes of my life watching clips of this guy. Now he does this to us!

He's dead to me, dead......

If it’s true and he is going Juv after various sources have said he gave his word to us that reflects very badly on him or his agent. All very well not coming but don’t lead us along when we could be looking at other strikers like Isak to cover the gap.

Well, things change. If Juve suddenly found some money, and his relationship with Fiorentina and their fans isn't that great anymore, why shouldn't he go to Juve? His dream may be to play under Conte, yes, but Juve isn't exactly Newcastle. If we don't have the money to buy him in January, maybe he doesn't want to wait until summer anymore. It doesn't make everything we've heard up until now lies.

Maybe we can swoop for a couple of Juve players to soften the blow? If he's going there anyway might as well try and improve us.

It is a sad example again though of the club not striking at the ideal moment because of up-front cost then missing out. Story of our last decade really...

Excellent post.
Lost TWO decades IMO.

As much as I'm disappointed at not signing Vlahovic, the meltdown from Arsenal fans on twitter is... *chefs kiss*

Yeah, it's their Dybala moment. I just hope they're not going to sign Isak this window.

No but if you give your word you give your word, that’s different than saying I might be interested so I am an option. That’s saying I am 100% coming so don’t worry about looking at other players in my role. To me that’s not right, if I give my word I intend to stick with it otherwise your screwing someone over.

I mean it wasn't even that bad :(, We agreed a fucking DEAL for Dybala. It was on before my lunch break, and off when I got back

More surprised that people are surprised tbh.
Really do not understand this either, jsut put 2 and 2 together, no way Spurs would use such money on a striker when we have Kane, it was a pipedream and we lost that last summer when Kane stayed.

We need reinforcements in so many areas that 70 mil plus huge wages on the top tallent in Europe after Haaland was only viable if Kane left in the summer.

Lets face it, Kane and Vlahovich would not play together in Contes system, and no way he would come to Spurs to rotate, that nly works in City Chelsea where the bench sitting is softened by 200k a week on several players
