I can see us going for Scamacca now as a plan B. He will be another player we will need to offload in a couple of seasons as he isnt good enough.
Vlahovic is currently the better player obviously, but doesn’t mean Scamacca isn’t the real deal. I have much less doubt he becomes elite than I do with Isak, David, and other young striker prospects. He’d be a fine consolation prize. Just the gap between Vlahovic and the rest of the next gen strikers is quite big, Haaland and Mbappe the exceptions ofc.

I'm not totally convinced on Isak - he's got a lot of potential, but Vlahovic is the real deal already.

Would have been a game changer for that club.

I said before and I'll say again, I'd have gone and would still go for Isak. Think he is going to be good. Not as clinical as Vlahovic but better all round game.

So what other shit-hot center forward prospect can we jerk off too for another 6 months to a year, blue balls ourselves into oblivion and watch him sign for someone else and find out we never even had a shot? Kettlehair?
Danny Ings? :cautious:

Interesting final days now, if Juve is going all-in for Vlahovic it must mean that players like Kulusevski or Dybala have to leave at that point we cannot miss the opportunity to still be trying to move Dele, Ndombele, and Lo Celso out. we need to be ready because really big opportunities could open up

Vlahovic is not in the squad for the Cagliari vs Fiorentina game today. Anyone know why ?

I’d be absolutely gutted to miss out on Dusan but if it meant we could possibly get Dybala I’d be pretty ok with that.

The most important thing for me is that we keep Conte on side. I was concerned when it seemed possible that Vlahovic might go to Arsenal that it would unsettle Conte as it would've showed a relative lack of financial commitment on the part of ENIC. I really don't suppose that Conte will think negatively of our failure to get the player if he goes to Juve, Conte is said to be reasonable about these matters and will undoubtedly understand that we can't realistically compete head-to-head against the biggest clubs for transfers.

The key now is that we move onto other targets to actually strengthen the areas of the squad he's assessed as needing reinforcement. That at the end of the transfer window we can truly say we've gotten better, not worse. Stevie is playing well up front and the need for a striker is somewhat diminished compared to the situation at the beginning of the month, so perhaps those reinforcements won't be in attack, but we've got to fucking back Conte with some quality signings and not just punts on promising teenagers.

Mentally tapped out of us signing him with the news that he wanted to stay to the summer for the fans, clearly that was about keeping his options open. Hopefully got other plans...

Fuck him then. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Let's see how this one season wonder does at Italy's biggest club.
Not that fussed really. My preference has always been a more rounded striker, just in case goals aren't initially forthcoming, he'll have something else to contribute.

it is disappointing to a certain degree as i think he could be very good in the PL for years to come, however given we have so much to do im not sure it would have been wise, good news is he isnt going to arse as he would have been perfect for them.

For sure, Vlahovic going there would’ve been way worse. But they’re still active looking for a top striker. Seems we have an interest in De Ketelaere and David who are both good but again, not Vlahovic’s level.

Arsenal will be signing a striker, whether that's this window or the summer.

They need one, and it looks like they're going for a statement signing.

Luckily it won't be somebody as good as Vlahovic though, strikers like him don't come around too often, he's going to be elite.

I wonder whether the resolution of what had been uncertainty surrounding Vlahovic will be a catalyst for our other business. Maybe it's just been wishful thinking but all window long I've had the feeling that we didn't want to commit funds elsewhere in case Vlahovic decided to leave Fiorentina this window.

All month it's been clear that the club was willing to sell and that it was purely down to the player, so if we'd left ourselves short of funds by doing business earlier in the window it could have meant that we would lose out on Conte's supposed No. 1 target if it turned out that he decided to leave after we'd already spent the money.

Now that we know there's no chance of us getting him hopefully it will mean that we can move on to the next top priorities on the list.

You have to imagine Dybala would be thrilled at having his offer pulled and reduced then Juventus splashing out on Vlahovic

If Kane signs a new contract this summer I would think that Conte and Paratici could be looking at Belotti (free transfer) I think he would be the perfect 3d striker, has both enough speed/mobility to play alongside Kane, and is good in the linkup to play with Son

This is really so sickening and frustrating. Wasting our time, mind and effort.

Transfer windows are becoming like international week for me - both are so useless and always put us at a disadvantage.

Never really thought we'd get him. Think we should go for inside wide forward who can play #9 now then in the summer go for Lautaro again if we manage top 4.
