Plus we have Sanchez, Dier and Tanganga why on earth do we need another CB when we have those incredible options? We went for VDV. This is dead.

I agree mate but it just won't happen. We won't drop the best part of 50m on a centre back then sign another one that could realistically take his place for the foreseeable.Plus we have Sanchez, Dier and Tanganga why on earth do we need another CB when we have those incredible options?
It's gonna be the cheap option Schuurs and we all know it. Will probably be the next Fazio, Wimmer & Chiriches.Despite reports to the contrary I think we were always intending to sign either him or VDV, not them both.
We absolutely should sign him now but I doubt we will.
Really hope I'm wrong and we just get him in though.
The Tapsoba ship has sailed but it will be a disgrace if we don’t bring in a top-class alternative. It's gonna be the cheap option Schuurs and we all know it. Will probably be the next Fazio, Wimmer & Chiriches.
We should be going for Tomori. Especially if Orban is only costing £25m.The Tapsoba ship has sailed but it will be a disgrace if we don’t bring in a top-class alternative.
We’ve just sold our best player for a gargantuan fee and were one of the financial heavyweights of world football to begin with, nobody can convince me that we don’t have the money.
We've already purchased a relatively affordable but unproven talent in VdV. What we need now is real quality.
Maybe, maybe not. But even if Tapsoba is unobtainable, that’s no reason to jump straight to bargain basement alternatives.Everyone just chill with the “no excuse” comments for a minute..
Is this guy really worth a 70-80m euro fee like it seems Leverkusen would want? “An offer they can’t refuse” as their director said. I’m not sure he is personally
I want to start by saying I completely agree with everyone saying we should be signing a top CB, such as Tapsoba, especially given we’ve just got a huge amount of money come into the club. It's gonna be the cheap option Schuurs and we all know it. Will probably be the next Fazio, Wimmer & Chiriches.
Why not?Everyone just chill with the “no excuse” comments for a minute..

I remember Wimmer at first being well regarded and considered an astutue singingI want to start by saying I completely agree with everyone saying we should be signing a top CB, such as Tapsoba, especially given we’ve just got a huge amount of money come into the club.
However I’ve noticed on here that people are using increasingly nonsensical comparisons when talking about transfers. Whilst Fazio was 100% the cheap option (funnily enough though he probs ended up having a better career than Musacchio), Wimmer was a widely praised transfer in the same window we signed Alderweireld and someone who had an immense first season. I also don’t recall anyone complaining about Chiriches at the time, especially given we spent a lot of money that window (by 2013 standards) because of Bale. He also had a pretty decent first season.
I kind of feel like it has got to the point where people feel comfortable rewriting history to suit their argument given some of this shit happened a while ago now. I’ve seen many examples where people have made comparisons to past transfers which were actually not criticised as the cheap option and the players weren’t even bad to begin with. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but it doesn’t change what actually happened.

Im pretty sure at first he was quite good with us somone got Injured and he stepped in and played well.He had a very strong season in the Bundesliga when we signed him.
The main reason for me is because I don’t like how he looks defending 1v1. He looks very unbalanced and slow off the mark and I’ve seen him skipped past ridiculously easily on several occasions purely because he’s not got his feet or balance sorted fast enough. For me that’s something that’s not gonna fit well when our CB’s are going to be left exposed in the channels in the gaps the inverted FB’s are leaving behind. Van de Ven on the other hand looks like the polar opposite, rapid, well balanced/co-ordinated and very difficult to beat 1v1.Why not?
Wimmer was an absolute W of a signing. He was great in a period where we badly needed him to perform while Jan was out injured and we got 18m for him. There’s no way he should be considered anywhere near the bad signing category at allI remember Wimmer at first being well regarded and considered an astutue singing

I still wouldn’t rule out Lenglet as a Levy option. It's gonna be the cheap option Schuurs and we all know it. Will probably be the next Fazio, Wimmer & Chiriches.
Tapsoba has much better stats in 1v1 in the same league, better passing, better in air.The main reason for me is because I don’t like how he looks defending 1v1. Except Lenglet is the complete opposite of Levy signing in every possible way lolI still wouldn’t rule out Lenglet as a Levy option.
There aren’t any stats that measure 1v1 defending are there? If there are, would you mind enlightening me, as I’ve never seen that. No debating he’s a better passer but I’m not sure we’re gonna need our CB’s to be spraying passes about, it seems like our play under Ange has been very much pass and move and giving options for short passes to progress the ballTapsoba has much better stats in 1v1 in the same league, better passing, better in air.
