Sky Sports Germany now saying we have interest in Ko Itakura from Borrusia Monchengladbach.

Would make sense as he was fairly heavily linked as a target for Ange at Celtic before.
I was reading about him earlier on a Bundesliga site when he went to Germany. They compared him to Jan Veronghen. Unsure whether I can link.article though.

You'll never guess who his agent is!

CAA Base Ltd
Also he was at City from 2019-2022 but loaned out and never played for them. I'd imagine Scott munn would be privy to him being part of the city group

Believe he's a right footer who's played on the left CB quite a bit as well for club and country. Little less spectacular on the dribbling/passing stats compared to Tapsoba but a little higher on the defending stats compared to him.

Others saying they hope there's a deadline on Tapsoba, I definitely feel like it'll be a goer before the tour or we move on.

Probably leaked to put pressure on VDV and Tapsoba’s clubs.
Looks like this Ko guy plays right sided CB. Maybe wishful thinking but maybe the plan was always 3 CBs and we are looking at Ko as a cheaper option to Tosin because we are putting more of the budget toward Tapsoba and VdV than we anticipated

I think there are good policy reasons why we don’t just move quickly and pay more than what we think the player is worth.

It sets a precedent for future deals that we’ll pay above value, which makes future negotiations for other players more difficult. Paying more than we think necessary also, of course, reduces our budget for other players.

This is not unique to us. City thought they needed a striker 2 years ago and went for Kane. But they thought our asking price was too much, and so they didn’t sign any striker that summer! Buying a player that a club does not want to sell in a deal worth 10s of millions of pounds is difficult. Yes, we need a CB in as early as possible. But do we need them in early so badly that we should pay over the odds for them, and risk more problems in future?

I think you just have to bite the bullet sometimes. Right now we are 2 CBs short and we need proper quality in there. Go back a few years and Liverpool struggled with Loevren, so the spent big money on VVD. He's paid off that fee many times over since. They haven't overpaid on many since that deal and I don't think any precedent was set. Yes, clubs try to take the piss, but I don't see Levy falling for that, but in this particular instance I think he could relent a bit. Of course, I have no idea what sort of money any of these deals are though.

Have just spoken to my Fulham supporting Dad, and was asking him about Tosin because we never really see anything in the press about him, other than the constant links to him being 3rd/4th in our list of CB targets (Ally Gold said it again on his latest video & also mentioned a £15m price), but never any news that we've spoken to his agent, talked terms etc or in fact any real validation of his likely price , just that one old quote from somewhere of £10m-£15m.

From a Fulham perspective they seem to think he is certainly off the summer as he definitely refused to sign a new contract , so it runs out in 12 months. However Fulham apparently need a couple of CB's themselves so this might be a case of waiting until they get reinforcements before they let him go? My Dad hasn't seen any prices quoted either, and (probably quite fairly) thinks £15m seems pretty low, even given the 12 months left as he's homegrown and 26yrs old with PL experience. One of the Milan clubs were first to be linked with him apparently, before us, but that's gone quite now. Oh,and he's in the process of getting a Nigerian passport - if that makes moving abroad any easier ?

There comes a time when you have just got to make a judgement whether they will lower the price or not. If this is holding up a chain of events, either pay what they want or move on.
I hope that decision is made next week before we embark on the tour.

Would be happy with Tapsoba or VDV + one of the two city products, Tosin or Itakura. There are a lot of city products that didn’t make it there, went elsewhere and were very successful (like Porro), it’s a good subset to scout from.
