All the media trying to whip fans into an anti levy storm by mentioning his salary and bonus and also the salary issue for non playing staff. Whilst at the same time failing to acknowledge that the two incidents happened months apart. He probably got the bonus in the middle of last year when the stadium opened, not this week when taking advantage of the government’s coronavirus financial matters.
Well maybe now would be the time he announced under the circumstances he would be repaying the £3m bonus he gave himself (or donate it), and at the same time reduce his own salary by 20%
Levy still has:
- all our season ticket money (and all the credit where seats have been sold on ticket exchange so has money from selling thousands of seats twice)
- all the TV money
- and I'd be surprised if he didn't have all sponsorship money
Yet only weeks from our last game we need a bail out.
Think the 20% is everyone at the club apart from players....
" to reduce the remuneration of all 550 non-playing directors and employees for April and May by 20%"

I am assuming that the club are doing what every business in Britain is doing and furloughing staff, so that they stay at home, not work, will picking up 80% of their salary or £2,500, whichever is lower.
The players are officially still working, whilst training from home as are the coaching staff and Levy himself.
I feel that there are many sticks to bash Levy with, but this isn’t one of them, he’s merely doing what every business is doing by using the government grant to pay staff while they are on lockdown at home and not working.

Staff should stay at home but we can afford to pay them so not ok to use the government scheme.
Also - have our financials actually been hit yet?
Do you honestly feel this way? Do you really think business should plough on taking advantage of any loopholes within regulations without breaking the law?
He is reducing his salary by 20% isn’t he along with the other directors?
Why would he pay back a bonus? Nobody in any industry would do that without there being terms to its original payment.
He’s not really the one to get your knickers in a twist about. It will be the players should they not reduce their salaries. Again, we don’t know yet if they aren’t. A lot of people getting riled up over not much the regular fan can do about at this stage.
Your probably right. But I work for one of the biggest production companies on the planet and I’ve been furloughed. We’ll be one of the last industries to go back to work as they will want to protect their stars. No one in the media is asking for actors, directors or execs to pay our salaries.
Every major company is doing it, it doesn’t make it ok, but we shouldn’t be singling out our chairman for criticism.
Morally, no - it is not the right thing to do.
From a business perspective, why wouldn’t you abuse it? Most businesses sole purpose is to generate profit.
The government scheme is open to abuse, and sadly this is what will happen.
On the flip side, many will feel the government ‘owe them’ something in return, and won’t lose any sleep over this.

If he is going to the government, cap in hand after just awarding himself a £1m pay rise, and £3m bonus, then as the owner, he should be looking at home firt.
And also why reduce staff by 20% salary, can he not afford to pay them the 20% delta like most companies in this situation are doing, with our record profits ?
