Is this Ben Jacobs very reliable then?

Not sure but hes sticking by his guns and providing a bit of in-depth reporting on it.

Think Sky and others gone with this aswell.

Jacobs has reiterated this morning that it could lead to nothing, bit like what Gold did.

But why would a minority shareholder put any significant amount into improving the team? Although im sure they will bring money to the general table, surely it will still be down to the majority shareholder to provide player funds? TBH im no expert in this field but im just trying to figure out how exactly this would logically benefit the team beyond potential marketing deals and off pitch infrastructure etc.

They wouldn't directly. They'd take say 20% knowing that they can easily purchase more shares in the future.

But they would invest in the team indirectly in a way that would offer them extreme exposure. They sponsor the stadium and take over the shirt sponsorship too and pay highest end rates for the deals which would probably bring the club an extra £60-80m in revenue immediately. That's before they look in to other commercial deals and tie ins.

With that extra revenue added to our new matchday revenues and our FFP margins, we immediately become one of the richest clubs in the league revenue wise and increase the chance of success. Meanwhile QSI get constant global exposure through our stadium and shirt sponsorships.

Worth flagging before the awaycarrierees get carried away. A meeting to talk about a potential deal isn’t a deal. A set of heads of terms signed by both parties isn’t a deal (per se). Until you’ve Stevie Wondered the documents, it’s business as usual.

Well as has been pointed out by @spursfan77 the accounts don’t need to be in till the end of June. So not sure it’s really a valid criticism to accuse him of hiding them in the second week of January.
The Accounts have to submitted to Companies House within 9 months of the year end date so its end March. The Club always used to take the full period before releasing them and only changed this approach over recent years.

The middle east consortium who tried to buy Chelsea also had talks to buy Spurs around that time (100%). Not the Qataris. ENIC weren't interested

More potential bidders for the naming rights when we decide the time is right.
Simple really, our brand becomes stronger globally.
Lol - 'when we decide the time is right'....

Levy brought in an expert to sell the naming rights so clearly believes the time is already right (and has been for some time) We can't sell them because we've set the price unrealistically high. Maybe at some point in the future with inflation the way it is we'll end up getting our desired number. The question is whether that higher number will make up for the revenue we've already lost with our unrealistic price expectations.

International profile.

Thousands of new international fans.

Our name associated with a magnificent building.

Name recognition. Real Madrid, Man Utd and Liverpool don't benefit by calling the Bernabéu, Old Trafford and Anfield by the name of the club. We do.

It's Advertising 101 stuff.

Thousands of new fans? Why on earth would not having a naming rights partner get us thousands of new fans?

Name recognition? If that is the case then why don't' Man Utd, Liverpool and Real Madrid just rename their stadiums to 'The Manchester United Stadium' etc?

The only reason we haven't sold naming rights is because Levy has expectations of a number that are way past the market value. So far we're probably at least £60 million down on potential income here.

Wonder what they'll make of the big flag in the corner of our stadium

I doubt they'll give a fuck tbh. Like the Qataris don't give a fuck about Sainsburys (which is over 25% owned by Qatar Investment Authority) pushing Pride month heavily every year.

If you dig deep enough there's hypocrisy virtually everywhere.

Yeah good luck with that. People like to have a moan on social media and forums because its so simple and takes a few seconds...I would suggest that a minuscule minority actually do anything constructive for these causes.
You are, of course, right. I only present ideas. Ultimately it would be up to every fan to decide what, if anything, they want to do should this ever happen.

Don't get me wrong mate, in theory it's a great idea.

Got more Pride flags than Sainsbury's logos in the staff area of the shop I work.

Not even sure any gay people work there.

No, no - I fully agree with you. My take on these sorts of things is that we all get to choose what we do, and while I share ideas and opinions, it would be silly of me to be overly invested in the choices of others.

How it’s being reported I’m 99.9% sure that there has been discussion, whether it comes to anything is completely different but I’d say there’s definitely been meetings/discussions.

When Joe Lewis is executing people by firing squad let me know.
While Qatar still has the death penalty in place, they use it very rarely. There were zero executions in 2019, one in 2020 and zero in 2021. Would you be happy with US, Indian, Egyptian or Japanese owners? (all execute far more people every year than Qatar)

Yeah i agree i think there has certainly been discussion. Who knows to what degree or if any more will happen. Its a good bet that it will take a long time for anything to happen if something does happen. Whats certain is Spurs will do their best to deny everything until the deal is made (if we actually want to do a deal that is).

I dont get this idea that investment such as this will mean success. Unfortunately its not as simple as that now. We already have City and now Newcastle with deep pockets, Chelsea have spent more than anyone else and keep doing so. Then you have Liverpool and Utd for sale and you can bet they will spend big still. Arsenal have spent big money under Arteta. It just feels that we're getting to a point where the league will be full of big investors anyway if not already. For all the backlash about the super league this league is turning into that sort of thing anyway. Ideally I'd stick more with the path we're on like Liverpool, Utd and Arsenal than go the path of Chelsea (albeit now on the other path with their new owner), Newcastle and City. I'd rather stick with an owner with less controversy. In fact I wod rather ENIC stay and put more money into transfers (for Paratici to control).

As for giving up support of the club if we sell out I just can't do it myself. I follow the club through thick and thin. The trouble is its out of our control really but why should we be forced to stop because of it? Same for the players, they will just get on with it and new ones come in. Those new players won't care about the ownership. They will care about coming in to win titles. Then you have the media who have a love in for City and Chelsea when they succeed. They never get criticism for their sportswashing. All they get is judgement on their football, how they got there is swept under the carpet. Same for the clubs fans, Chelsea fans couldn't care less about how they got there. They still chant we've won it all.

It's difficult to be a success organically in this day and age. A time where we get so much stick for having won nothing yet very few teams do. We need investment in players that's for sure. If ENIC doesn't then we need someone who will.
