What an absolutely idiotic piece of play. At least this time he can't hide from it unlike last week where quite a few people were trying to pin it on Hugo or Aurier.

Give Toby and Rodon a run now. Toby is still our best CB despite his physicality waning and Dier is a failed experiment. Time to invest time in Rodon who at least seems like a natural CB.

Feels a bit harsh as Eric is a fighter and did get some good blocks in tonight but he will never remove those lapses of concentration. Same as Sanchez.

it was a brainless pen to give away but he's not a crap defender. FFS.
What is he good at then? He’s not good with his feet. Plays far too many straight balls into midfield that puts us under pressure. He can’t defend crosses. His timing and his vertical leap are both terrible. He doesn’t have good awareness as evidenced by today and plenty of other games where he hasn’t got a clue what’s going on around him. He’s not quick so he can’t recover if the other side gets in behind. Yeah he’ll put a few blocks in. But you’ll find dozens of plodders who’ll throw themselves in the way of shots but can’t do much else. I would genuinely like to hear a convincing defence explaining why he’s a good defender.

He sums up everything that’s wrong with this team & it’s fitting that he is Jose’s love child, both out of their depth

he's not good with his feet? a footballer with 45 caps for England isnt good with bis feet? I dont k now what that means.

He's just shit, makes the other defenders uncomfortable too, I'm sure Sanchez would have more confidence if he didn't have to play alongside this idiot.

It means his passing is poor. But you don’t have an answer then so no worries. Didn’t think you would because there isn’t one.

I watched Brighton v Liverpool the other day, and thought I would happily take any of there 3 cb's (white, webster, dunk) before Dier, that in itself says a lot

Him tonight with the costly fuck up, at the weekend it'll be someone else. Truly awful penalty, naive and lazy.

If this is how we’re playing now and all we require is our centre-backs to be focused and firm defenders then there’s literally dozens of players that would be an upgrade on him.

Dier is widely slated universally for starting for England, and think most would agree he should be low on the list of cb for England (top of my head Stones, Maguire, Dunk, Webster, Coady, Gomez, Tarkowski, Mee, Mings are better), and in addition not sure caps for England are always a true indicator of a player, Phil Jones has 27 ffs

what baffles me is that mourinho took him out vs brighton as he knows hes been shocking yet puts him back in against better opposition vs chelsea wtf is he playing at musical chairs. just bin dier on the bench and leave him there fs. how many times does he have to cost us in big games especially.
