This is not meant to be a post to take a shit on Sanchez, but we have to make a comparison due to the upturn in performance.
In possession with Dier and Romero we have two ball players to open up the pitch. Watch the first goal, the floated ball from Romero to Davies never gets played by Sanchez.
And in defence Romero is so much more decisive, more aggressive. Without Dier he has to marshal the defence which goes against his natural inclinations.
Dier has the maturity to sit and arrange and bolster those around him. He's so very important to our other defenders.
It’s a tough one, would De Vrij fit in on the left of the three? We clearly need competent back up to Dier as we look lost without him, if De Vrij is an upgrade on Davies in his position then surely he comes in and plays there and rotates with Davies and Dier.Thoughts on De Vrij if Dier keeps up this level and importance to our success?

I guess having them both would be a nice problem to have.Yeah, it’s what I’m not sure of. Obviously having two generals is cool, but they will both want to be playing regularly and that can’t happen if their best position is central. Add in De Vrij being older, and he still will warrant a decent fee even if he’s on one year remaining in his contract, it’s a bit of a conundrum.
