Eric Dier. Discuss.

Its not so much that we was suddenly dropped as it was that he was suddenly inserted into the RB role in the first place. He is a fine back-up defender, capable of playing RB or CB in the PL. Naughton, and Walker, when healthy, have skills that make them suitable RBs ahead of Dier. There's no thread for him, so here's one. Discuss. But I thought I'd star by raising the fact that he was just suddenly dropped and has not started the last 2 league fixtures, starting with scum of all games. I can't figure that one out. Any ideas?
What are you talking about, Naughton HAS been healthy. Most of the time when Dier has started, Kyle has been on the bench.Naughton, and Walker, when healthy, have skills that make them suitable RBs ahead of Dier.
Dier became first choice RB for a time there because Naughton got a straight red at west ham and he played well when he came on and was named MOM. Naughton came into the season as first choice RB, may have lost it for a few gamss there but won it back and was good leading up to the injury. Dier has done very well at RB so far but lets not forget, he is a CB forced into playing RB. He doesnt have the pace we need at the full back positions. What are you talking about, Naughton HAS been healthy. Most of the time when Dier has started, Kyle has been on the bench.
Hence why I'm wondering why Dier started with Naughton on the bench for the majority of those games. He doesnt have the pace we need at the full back positions.

Remembering that the red card doesn't account for Sunderland and West Brom, where interestingly, Kyle was on the bench.Dier really is a CB but was thrown into the RB position because 1) Walker is out injured 2) Naughton got a straight red vs WH
Discuss him perhaps? What do you mean, what else? What do other player threads do? That was an edit to my original post, which posed a discussion point. You should have read further as there is obviously a discussion going on. It was looking at how he's been dropped for the last 2 league games.Discuss what?

Well there was some good posts which answered my question. Doesn't really need discussing any more. It still leaves me wondering why Naughton was on the bench for those other games though.Huh? Why did you edit the post and delete what you posted?
Pretty much end of discussion.Dier is 20, new to the Prem and primarily a centre back. We've seen an experienced pro in Vertonghen struggle at playing at full back when he's much more comfortable at centre back. I'd hate for us to do the same to such a young player.
Dier has shown he is a talented player. It's now the club's responsibility to nurture him properly.
Pretty much end of discussion.
