If hes in I cant see us keeping Sandro and Capoue. IMO he would be a great signing, a winner and bags of experience which is something we are lacking. Would be a huge lift for Lamela too I am sure, but again IMO Sandro or Capoue would be off.

Agreed. If the media chatter is believed maybe Sandro may be off:(

I agree that he would bring winning mentality, be good for Lamela and so on. But I think Sandro and Capoue are much better players. Cambiasso is far from the player he once was. I rather keep Sandro/Capoue, when fit I think they both can be the best defensive midfielder in the league.

I would not be happy to see us sell one of two potentially world class defensive mids, both aged 25, in Sandro and Capoue for them to be replaced by a 33 year-old who we'll be lucky to get two seasons out of and considering he's never played in the Premier League it would be a humongous test for his ageing legs and I bet the link is only born out of the fact Cambiasso is out of contract and Poch is Argentinian.

Why are they potentioally world class? Because they play for Spurs? :S

I don't think we need to sell anyone. I do think we could use a leader in the squad, and Cambiasso is that. The problem is whether a 33 year old wants to try to adapt to a new league and language. He has played in Spain and Italy. I'm not sure if he'd be ready for the EPL at his age.

No thanks, no what we need an ageing player who has never played in the EPL.

We mustn't sell Sandro as he is imo one of our very best players.

Our squad is bloated with CMs, Sandro, Capoue, Paulinho, Bentaleb, Dembele, Livermore, Carroll and Veljkovic. If Cambiasso comes in just to be a "leader" it would be useless IMO considering we don't know how half the squad will react to Poch next season and he was one of Inter's highest earners close to 100k a week considering he helped them win the Champions League, I already have enough issues with Ade demanding that sort of money, I'm not willing to see it wasted on a 33 year old who will likely have little or mediocre impact on the pitch for about a season and a half.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good player just he's the wrong fit for us IMO.

If he's Poch's old mate, is there a chance that talks have been about a coaching role (Freund's job, with Freund moving into Inglethorpe/Sherwood's old one?)

Aged ? tell that to Pirlo...

Cambiasso played more than 2000min last season; He is fit & healthy - thats all is important.

He is available on free transfer; We lack a leader in the squad; He could help us;

Btw, I dont think there is even one CM in our current squad that can pass as well as he does.

I'm never a fan of all this talk of recent players taking on a coaching capacity and I have the same opinion on Friedel, recently retired players for the most part haven't had time to complete their coaching courses, they lack the necessary experience of managing a squad and taking on a coaching role and it takes time to be able to fully understand and work out your own philosophy as a coach, they've had less time to study and for that reason they usually don't make good coaches.

Now saying that, I'm not ruling out that he can be or is a good coach but considering he spent his entire career in Argentina, Spain and Italy it's unlikely he speaks good English, if any, so taking him on as a coach is unnecessary IMO and just wastes wages.

You'd think he'd have plenty more years to come, he's as fit as Zanetti was at 33.

That maybe true but he is likely to struggle in the PL, the pitches are smaller and he'll have the likes of Jedinak, Noble, Jones and Charlie Adam waiting to have a go at him, he'll have less space and less time and at 33 I don't think it's worth the risk or squad space.

Cambiasso? I thought I must have opened the 2006 Transfer Forum! Maybe we can combine him in midfield with Gattuso and get Crespo up front.

Am sorry, have to disagree; Giggs played till 40; He still had the time & space; We are not talking about a average Joe here; This is one of the best midfielders in past 15 years; Yes, he is not at his peak; But he is still goof enough for us;

Rewind a year back - at SanSiro he inspired a "almost" superb comeback against us in EL second leg;
Look at the way he wins the ball against Dembele & slots in a perfect pass for their No9 to score; Atm, there is no one in our CM who can make such a through ball;
