Doesn’t matter whether wolves could’ve knocked us out of Europe imo. Same with Leicester, it’s great they aren’t in the UCL next season to build on this season. Don’t want them challenging near the top much like I feared if Leicester made the UCL. Unlike Leicester though, I actually like nuno and wolves, they have some top players. Gutting for Jimenez especially I imagine, he’s so reliable from the spot usually, and even though it was saved, it should’ve been retaken. Nonetheless, glad Sevilla won. Now go beat United and shut them up.
Yeh, first time he's missed a penalty in a competitive game.

I don't have that much sympathy for wolves. They've bought success and are a club, partially, run by agents. Though I do admire what they've done footballing wise.

We were linked with Diego Carlos couple of weeks ago, sadly not by any good source. I also remember us being linked to Ocampos when he was at Monaco, had a great game against us once IIRC.
Both great players and finds by Sevilla. I really want Carlos, sadly it seems every top club wants him, and Sevilla have rightly priced him at around 50 mil.

Yeah, unfortunate that they use Mendes sooo much to acquire their targets from Portugal, they definitely line his pockets handsomely. I remember being shocked Neves went there when they were in the championship, like “why wolves?” Don’t hate them like I do Leicester though.

Hoping Sevilla win the Europa League now which will put them in the Champions league next season, they'd be tough opponents.

I think Wolves at the moment are playing interesting stuff but are still fairly innocent. When you play them it's easy to appreciate how well they do what they do and how coherent it all is. But if they were challenging for titles or CL places more often I think we might think differently.

I tend to not mind Leicester so much these days, I think it has everything to do with the fact that ever since we competed for the title with them we tend to batter them.

They already are in the Champions League for next season. In fact every team still in it has qualified to next years CL group phase.

Thank god Wolves went out, sick of the pundits fawning over them all season
and in the cold light of day is finishing 7th and QF of a second rate competition really worth the amount of plaudits they’ve got? I mean they finished below us for a start and we all know how woeful we were this season.

puts things in to a little bit of perspective doesn’t it.

And Traore, although improved, still has a huge element of "one trick pony" about him. Apart from a handful of good moments through the season, he really isn't as good as the commentators relentlessly make him out to be.

Fucking good trick though.

Sevilla is a very decent team, Lopetegui has got them playing great stuff, crazy that Benega is going to Saudi after the tournament ends, he ran the show tonight, can still play at a very high level. Always a well-run club, Carlos and Ocampos cost just €15M each, Munir just €1M (that's 3 players for less than we paid for Sissoko), Joan Jordan €14M.

Infuriates me how little research these so-called analysts do beforehand, the only insight into Ocampos (who would walk into most teams) they had, was that he played with ex west ham Payet at Marseille, same with Suso, only insight his struggle at Liverpool :bored: Wish they could employ people with insight into world football, football doesn't start and end with just the PL.

It does sound like an incredibly easy gig to be a pundit or commentator in the English game. It's why some pundits really stand out, Neville for example but also Jenas and others, because they don't just see it as coming into work and giving whatever 'hot take' comes straight into their minds.

Bit more than that, his crossing and end product is actually good these days.

I don't understand how they get away with being so anglo-centric. In our shows in Norway we know that the viewers know most of what is to know about the top English sides, Man United and Liverpool especially, so the broadcasters and pundits always have a mantra of preparing extra material on the team those big clubs come up against, whether that be in the PL or Europe. It's so much more rewarding for United fans to see what they're up against and who to watch out for than seeing some clips of their play for the milionth time.

I might be bigging up my own too much but give me Brede Hangeland, Erik Thorstvedt and our pundits any day of the week.

When England played Slovakia at Euro 2016, one of the pundits had actually done some research and was talking about how important Hamšík was to the Slovaks. The other pundits mocked him for having done some research. Turds.

It would be interesting to know who that was because it a lot of the time pundits seem to start off with good intentions and get dragged down. Even someone like Shearer had more useful things to say when he started, not so much now.

I was wracking my brain as I typed. I think Lee Dixon was involved but can't remember whether he was a mocker or the mockee. It was "banter" equivalent to Boris Johnson's "girly swot" jibe.

Overall they are a one trick pony Traore to Jimenez.s head = goal .
They were for me outplayed and outclassed by Sevilla .
Next year teams will not be unaware of the Wolves tactics they are for me a middle of the table team that have massively overachieved .
All teams have a system I know but some are more obvious than others therefore easier to combat .
