Can't be over critical at all with richy but he had a more than decent chance to make it 1-3

I'll be honest, I never felt we had control of the match at all. It was all very untidy today. Felt Everton won all the 50-50's and we never could sustain any attacks.
We still had more control especially going forward. We couldn't retain the ball once he went off.

Bloody shame to lose that goal but to be fair it was always going to be a tough game.
Everton are a mid table side fighting for Premier league survival which makes them a tougher opponent than bottom of the table clubs fighting and mid table sides with nothing much to lose.

Some fans are going to be irate, angry and start blaming players….or even Ange.
But for me, this game was rich in stuff we need to learn as a team to compete consistently at the top, for the long term.
All sorts of learnings.
Defensively, corners, protecting the goal keeper, attacking out wide, low amount of crosses, midfield control, use of substitutes, our overall fitness and game management in the final 10 minutes.

So, yes, we didn’t get the result we wanted, but we got a huge amount of feedback and work-ons for our evolution as a top side.
We can’t keep kidding ourselves that we’re there yet. We’re not.
But each week we find out more….and then it’s all about whether the players and coaching staff have the ability and insight to then elevate the side again. And again.

Other teams are spending the week watching our games and unearthing our frailties.
It’s up to us to turn those aspects of our game from weaknesses to strengths.
That’s the mark of a top team. And we’re still so young in our journey.

I preferred it earlier in the season when we saw some games out by playing keep ball.

Let's do that again.

Dont think we can do "something special" now this season. Ange and Maddison have both said recently they won't put a limit of what can be achieved this year, but we ain't winning the league after that performance today.

So disjointed in the last 20 minutes or so,
Silly fouls, poor passes and running straight into players instead of passing.
Poor play in general.

Agree with the posters that going 3 atb is to give Drago game time. It looks as if that system isnt really practiced in training and its more hope than expectation that we will close the game out when we add on that 3rd CB.

The usual result for us at Goodison.... not won there on our last 6 visits
Point is better than nothing but was always going to happen when we didnt kill them off and get the 3rd, always the same

For this reason alone I hope they get relegated

Conceding in injury time is frustrating, especially after leading twice. But a point at Goodison is not a bad result; they are much better than the table says for obvious reasons. Also Dyche’s teams are difficult to play against.
They’ve only picked up 2 points in their last 5 games prior to today. They’ve been poor for a while now. It’s a bad result, especially after leading twice.

I didn't feel we were really on our game today barring the 1st 10 minutes.

With the wingers wide and Maddison playing quite high our midfield was unable to gain control.

Very disappointing result for us having been so close but a draw probably fair on Everton's performance

The problem with a back 3 is you have a spare defender that gets in the way. Better off with back 4 and 2 DMs to press the attack

Never convinced by the tactic of swapping a midfielder for a 3rd centre half. Think it invites pressure and reduces our attacking options. But that's just my onion.
So true.
It’s because we paid a decent fee for Dragusin and fought so hard to get him so Ange wants to give him minutes but I think you’re spot on, everytime we do it we give up control of the game in midfield and concede more chances and goals than we were previously.

That being said we should’ve scored a 3rd to kill the game.

Coughing up possession for fun too. Hopefully once bents and Madison get their mojo back we'll see better control of the midfield

Bringing on 2 short arses in Skipp and Gil to see out the game was poor from Ange. But Kulu deserves a fine for giving that freekick away. Pure petulance from him really.
This is how we lost. People are saying we were bad but we had decent chances, Pickford kept us out a few times, that second half was comfortable until the above happened. Nothing else to it.
