We played poorly but I'm absolutely fuming that the clear foul on Micky isn't given at that corner. Guy stands on his foot as he's going in to contest it and nothing, yet if you pull a fucken shirt it's a pen? Wtf is that from VAR?

We gave away possession so many times today... Kulu going through a really bad patch at the moment... Bents has seemingly lost his way... PEH is finding it difficult to make the most simple pass. Lack of clean sheets is a big problem. Ange will sort it out no doubt, but at times we are a difficult watch.

Just catching Postecoglu after game interview and I reckon there's going to be some harsh words in the dressing room when he gets back in there.

I think it just shows where we are with our development. We are still 4/5 short of a full squad and it shows when making subs later in the game.
1,000,000% this, at such a high level of football like the PL those subs from 70-100mins make a HUGE difference when there are tired legs etc, if you bring on players who lower your level then you’ll likely end up under pressure or conceding, if you bring on players who can raise your level you can mount a comeback or kill off games.

Take Man.City for example against Newcastle, they bring on KDB and kill the game with 2 goals. Man.U bring on McTominay and Anthony and win 4-3, Liverpool the other evening brought on Trent, Robertson, Gakpo and Elliot and scored a 4th.

We at 2-1 up brought on Sarr who improved us, Kulu who did ok aside from his foul but we lost Johnson’s pace, then brought on Skipp & Gil who both massively lowered our level and Dragusin which in the end was a bit of a tactical error.

I remember in the FA CUP Semi under Poch at 2-2, Chelsea brought on Hazard & Costa and killed the game 4-2.

As Joe Cole said all things considered we are ahead of the curve with how we are playing under Ange but as with City under Pep and Liverpool under Klopp it took time to build the squad quality and also the last 10-15 mins legs are tired so tactically and quality needs to improve.

Next 6 games we have 4 home games and aside from Villa play mostly teams 10th and below.

We go again next match.

I thought Richy was amazing, Werner and Johnson did ok, Maddison is warming back to match fitness, Porro and VDV were good, the rest were a bit off it but we’ll be ok.

I mean, I’m at that point now where I keep reminding myself we finished 8th last season and then sold our best player.

I said at the start of the season my aim would be for us to just be back in Europe next season, and to be fair we are WAY ahead of that goal I feel. We are 100% in the battle for 4th which is beyond what I expected, and I think the squad changes and building we have done are also a long long way ahead of where I thought they would be.

We’ve had a glimpse of what could be coming and I feel I need to sometimes temper down my reaction to the speed bumps like today, we’re still very much building and it’s been a disruptive season. Most important thing is you can see the direction we are headed in and it’s looking great.

Further ahead than where I thought we would be and still very much on target to achieve a lot, as frustrating as days like today are, I think the frustration comes from how well, and how much we have exceeded all of our expectations till this point.
Thank you 👏👏👏👏

This football is not sustainable as we need 3 goals a game to win a match . We give opposition teams at least 4 clear chances a game . We seem to get bullied against all opposition . It’s not eye catching high tempo football we’re watching , it’s suicidal football imo.

Conceded 8 goals in 90 plus minutes

Wow

Do you know of that is uniquely bad, as it seems that due to excessive extra time since the WC, so many games are producing late goals? 8 sounds incredibly high, but I just wonder how it compares with other teams this season.

Feels like a loss. Such poor control. Skipp, Gil and Kulusevski should have given us energy but couldn't hold the ball. Gutted

Skipp and Gil will struggle for any game time next season.

Ange is rebuilding, i truly believe those two, plus Pierre will be gone in the Summer or at least offered around. All three are not suitable to play Ange's style of football.

We’re very naive defensively. Serious lack of discipline at times epitomised by Kulu giving away that totally unnecessary free kick at the death. Very uncomfortable watch against a poor Everton side missing some of their best players.

frustrating to say the least.

Baffling from Ange. Every time we have PEH, Skipp, Gil on the pitch we end up retreating, given their set piece reliance this amounted to really poor game management.

Gutted for Richarlison, but apart from his finishing we didn’t create enough to deserve more did we?
He should know better than to start with Hojbjerg. Despite some good attributes his overall record is being part of weak midfields.

Hope those clogging fucks get relegated. We seem reluctant to step on people’s throats when we have the opportunity. A third goal kills the game.

As mentioned I think other teams are working out our frailties and a team like Everton it plays right to their strengths. Lump it in the box and heads they win, it's not pretty but damn it's effective. As soon as saw 7 mins added it was going to be them that would end up with a grab at the death and it was probably deserved.

Ange's subs played a little into their hands as well I wouldn't have taken Madders off thought that was kerbing our creative influence and saying we're just trying to hold out as the pressure mounted. So needed that killer 3rd just not to be and did lose our way especially when they equalised.

You get the feeling Everton are destined to stay in this league no matter what's thrown at them. Their style is like Wimbledon of yester year even down to Pickford booting it into the box at set peices. Certainly not for the pureists as Brian Clough once said if God wanted to play football in the sky he would have put grass there. Dyche is a specialist at making out clouds must be grass because the contrasts between them and us were so wide. Sometimes though we need to boot it out from the back as the pressure kept building as soon as gave it away we were struggling to cope. Ange will hopefully learn with opposition like Everton you need to be more streetwise fighting in their backyard.

What did he say mate?
I'm paraphrasing but essentially that "you have to deal with a lot" when you go to Everton"; that refs will give a lot of fouls to Everton when the crowd is constantly on their back, and that refs seem to let stuff against us go; and that refs seem to be fine with our keeper being fouled so we just need to deal with it.

Works fine in Australia, Japan and Scotland. But in the Premiership? I don't care who you are, you're gonna get punished more often than not.

I think Ange’s substitutions are an effort to address the fact that we have conceded so many late goals (8 in 90+ min) but the squad just isn’t deep enough. If Son, Bissouma, Solomon and GLC were available they’d have made a big difference in a game like this. We lost Perisic who showed his worth coming off the bench earlier in the season. The likes of Hojbjerg and Johnson are more effective as subs than they are as starters.

It’s a huge part of our squad building that needs to be addressed, particularly as we’ll have Europe to contend with and we should hopefully go deeper in the domestic cups next season.
