I see he has decided to charm us all again.

Here is where I'm at.

I think he's ego is hurt and is in self preservation mode so currently more than ever he is here as a professional but he would like to be elsewhere.

He's strength is managing one game a week and that gives us a good chance to end the season well so I'm going to return the favour and hold my nose whilst we see out the season but I'd rather someone else was here beyond that.

So yeah the feeling is now mutual.

Are you kidding? Over achieved? Honestly don't know how to respond
We were shit under the last 6 months of poch and all through Maureen and Nuno. He has dier playing CB with Davies most weeks and a dreadful Hojbjerg in Midfield. Kulu and Richarlison out first half of the year and now playing Skipp in bentancurs absence. Our best CB is a complete liability in 30% of the games he plays and we have lloris end of life and Forster who was dumped by Southampton. He will definitely be over achieving to make top 4.

Exactly. It's why I just enjoyed the Chelsea game for what it was in isolation and didn't get too carried away, as I knew we could then just go and lose to Wolves. Just like I know there's every chance we can now just go and lose to Saints or Everton because our performances are nowhere near consistent enough or good enough at home mostly.

I definitely don't think Conte should have a future here beyond the season, at all. For me it's just whether we'd end up benefitting from sacking him prior to the end or not.
Haven't we won our last four league games at home conceding one goal?

I agree with it , we don't have the 4th best squad so certainly over achieved in terms of position. Just not overachieved in terms of the football we've played to get there. I think it's also a case that Liverpool and Chelsea have also been poor in that department too which has helped us be where we are. City are the only CL team above us this season so I think it's fair to say we're over achieving really.
And that's down to us and not the fact Chelsea and Liverpool are having terrible seasons?

This thread is so reactionary. One win against a newly promoted side and suddenly Conte is fine - do we forget the last 7 months?
He isn't fine. Have that many people really flipped and said they want him to stay???

The general consensus seems to be that there is not much point firing him as we don't have a plan behind that and we may be better just letting him finish the season as it may be less disruptive in our pursuit for top 4.

I believe that we will and probably should have a change in the summer but to be reactionary and just fire coaches with no solid plan is actually self destructive.

This time we actual have a situation that isn't drastic. A very good coach who has 11 games left and is sat in 4th. And he's experienced at this. Why disrupt that?

Jose had clearly lost the dressing room and the season was slipping away/slipped away, so we were forced into that a little.

Nuno was proving a disaster, so again forced to react.

I want to see the club take some real consideration and not hire the biggest or first name that comes to mind, which is what would happen if we just fired Conte.

Wanting Poch to step in now without really thinking it through would be reactive and dumb.

No we look at the league table.
Unbelievable. Yep let's get top 4 apparently that's the same as winning the thing and despite qualifying for it more often than not in the last decade apparently it will be a miracle, and when we get there, get knocked out with a whimper and bring on a CB for a forward when we have 10 minutes to get a goal.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I’m pragmatic - I think he’s guaranteed to leave at the end of the season but if he can see us through to the end of the season in the top four there’s no reason to get rid unless we have his successor ready to go.
Exactly this.

Thing is, as has been said on here, he's almost certainly off at the end of the season. If he gets us 4th and that's his legacy for the next coach then that isn't the worst outcome ever.

See now I agree with you there!

Yeah I'm not too concerned about our home performances! I actually thought we'd beat Milan but we threw up an 'away like' performance. I think beating Man City, West Ham and Chelsea all fairly comfortably and conceding none in the process is a great achievement, but unfortunately I can too easily envisage us struggling in literally any away game.

Wins away to Saints and Everton would be huge and not just because of the points but for what it would signify for the rest of the season.

Nothing to do with the other teams who usually qualify no? Ok cool
