Yeah. Bad thread title though, you have to say. Anything with the word "Emirates" in it does not belong in Spurs Chat! I hope he knows thread titles can be changed.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I was absolutely livid at that.

More than 170,000 seats were left empty during Arsenal's home games last season, according to startling new figures which cast serious doubt on the Premier League’s boast of record occupancy on the eve of the new campaign.

I wonder if our attendances are all kosher and what does that do to our proposed 60,000 stadium capacity? Is 50,000 a better capacity for Spurs?

I thought ours is to be 56,000????.....which is more realistic I think.

Hey let's try to look at this without the natural hatred that leads to vitriol and removes logic.

So maybe there is a reason they had so many empty seats.

My first though is that maybe it's not easy for their shitty One Direction fans to get to the N5 all the way from Souf London where the Woolwich should have fucking stayed.

See. take away the hate and logic reigns.

@David St Hubbins I really couldn't give a rats arse about the Doh rating, but at least do me the curtesy of an explanation, I may learn something.

The false figures for attendance, if true, could well have an impacrt on their advertising revenue. I would have thought that the fees paid by the advertisers would be linked to attendance, not the number of tickets sold, so the inflated figures would mean they have received a higher income than they should have done. Maybe the advertisers would want some of their money back!
I think the advertising is more for the TV. What fan at the ground would take notice of the advertising? Many wouldn't be able to read it.

You do realise that kop isn't a registered trade mark of the scousers don't you?

In fact the original kop was actually at The Manor Ground in Woolwich... :shifty:
Interesting, I didn't know that. There is however always going to be that link to Liverpool given their identity. Once built, won't it just be ours and Liverpool's with a kop in the prem? (Disregarding any other teams who might be in the prem that season)

I was at a football game in the USA and the announcer gave the attendance figure, this was followed with him saying ...'and 247 "No Shows"!

We were told how many people bought tickets and how many of them didn't turn up!

Nothing new in this, most clubs have been counting ticket sales over actual attendances for years.

My local club used to give figures way UNDER the actual attendance figures.
Back in the late 70s through to the late 80s early 90s we would often hear 'tonights/days attendance is 675' and we all knew i was more like 1000 or more in the ground.

Feevin' bastards!

I imagine it's because their fans start turning up early in the season and then start getting injured.

"Attendance for matches at the Emirates Stadium recorded by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), which counts the number of spectators who turn up to games"

How the hell can the Metropolitan Police Service count the number of spectators? I'm sure they have nothing to do with the counting. I'm almost certain that the ticket scanners would send a count back to a computer and that's how an accurate figure is determined. But those scanners belong to the club so why the hell wouldn't they just publish that figure, the fools.

I'd guess they need an accurate count to prepare for post-match mass transit usage and to help respond to an emergency. Now I'm sure your right that its not the police counting but Arsenal providing them the data.

Perhaps now you can also start educating idiots who think that 'The Kop' is just and only short hand for 'The Spion Kop End at Anfield' and it won't be a problem.

;)

This is exactly true, my company has an allocation of 20 tickets alone for Arsenal (10 for Spurs) for Client visits for every match... most weeks they are not used. And if they are not used, the seats stay empty.

Yep. In my line of work I get offered tickets at the Emirates a lot. They're the easiest club to go and see on corporate if you're that way inclined. I'm not, obviously
