For those of you wanting to have some fun, see if you can predict the places.

Man City and Portsmouth are the two clubs I think have a easy run in like us but with City's poor away record can see them lose out on euro places.

I still believe in our chances but all will tell after the Carling cup final.

We have the best run in by a mile, but we are too far back. I just want to see a continuation of our recent progress.

No pressure on the lads in the league just go out an play the way we can. We have a big final and a european adventure still to play for.

yet would tend to agree with this!

IF somehow we did qualify for europe via the league it'd be one hell of an effot because as a result of our very poor start a gap built and built and as well as we've been doing we are still a long way behind. We may well get a top half finish though :) which would be 4 seasons in a row :) progress!

In fact, we're now at precisely the same position we were in this time last season.

while thats comforting, we had more points at this stage last year. At 23 games we were 5 points off last years pace, and we've only gotten 2 in the last 2 games. So we have more points to make up than one year ago.

It's a very big ask but IF we won 9 and drew 4 of our remaining 13 games, we'd finish on 60 points. That would be an amazing achievement but if we play like we did against Moan U, we could just do it. Say we draw against Chelsea, Lverpool, Blackburn and Man City and win the rest. As I say, a big ask but not impossible.

We do, and at this stage last season we had our last poor performance and bad result, against Sheffield United, and most people wrote off our chances of a top six place there and then. I still believed Jol and the team could pull something out of the hat, and they did. Call me a crazed optimist, but I believe Juande can do at least as well.

I simply can't see us having a mare against Derby as we did against Sheffield, and three points there will put us on 32, the same as we had going into the last twelve last season.

Just believe.

the only real problem right now is getting past west ham, as they have a few points gap ahead of us, we do have a game coming up against them in march so that could be quite a deciding game . As they like to say on any footie show thats a 6 pointer game

We will have to go absolutely brains out, keep our fingers crossed that we have no further injuries to key players and hope that some of the teams ahead of us trip up, but whilst it's a huge ask to get to P7 I don't think it's insuperable by any means.

Same position maybe SS57 but not 12 points off 7th with three other teams between us 10, 9 & 7 points clear of us and West Ham still have a game in hand. We need to win 4 games more than Man City, Villa Blackburn and Probably West Ham not to mention Pompey and I can't see it happening; one or two maybe even three but not four or five.

Love to see us do it but hoestly don't think there's enough games left.

No fewer than six of those games are ones in which we made a hash of the corresponding fixtures last season, and all of them, bar Liverpool, are against teams we should reasonably expect to beat. And if we continue to put in performances like Saturday's, it wouldn't be entirely unreasonable to believe we can beat Liverpool, on current form.

I dont know if this is true as I havn't looked it up just working with my assumption/perception...but dont the teams above us this year have more points then last year?

Seeing that the league seems very much more divided into two halfs and less points have been shared around, I mean the teams in the lower half of the table seem to have less points then ever meaning the teams in the top half have more then in previous years.

If this is the case it would mean that although we are in a similar postion to last year in terms of points and league postion, the gap with have to close is wider and therefore a harder task.

Or are you saying the gap is the same also? (as I said I haven't researched this in the slightest wasjust an assumption)

......

A lot of teams have over performed in the first half of the season. Many of them will collapse.

At the end of every season the points that get a team into the top 7 and usually UEFA is circa 56 upwards.
At the end of this season, it's likely to be the same story.

Spurs are back playing Champions League standard at the moment and getting better. 6th place is 12 point off. It will take Villa, City and Blackburn to revert to midtable performance while Spurs maintain a Champion League performance with big wins against City and Blackburn away.

27 points required from 13 games; Spurs are better now than we have been for many a year. It can and will be done.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a league table for this time last year (and I'm certainly not going to try and reconstruct one!). But on a quick results check, Bolton were on 43 points, Pompey on 42, and both hit the skids as we went into top gear. And this time last year many had given up on any hope of us getting a European place, and there was even talk of our getting sucked into a relegation battle. Two years ago, according to some, we were going to finish in mid-table.

There's not much point in talking about a revolution and then not believing it's going to happen, is there?

27 points required from 13 games; Spurs are better now than we have been for many a year. It can and will be done.

Last season we took 28 from 12. The only other time we've done as well, at least since WWII, I was six months old.

West Ham, Portsmouth, Blackburn, Man City and Villa all dropped points at the weekend... Man City and Portsmouth were playing Arsenal and Chelsea, but West Ham and Villa's were bad points dropped...

Last season there were a couple of weeks where nearly all the teams above us dropped points whereas we won our games which allowed us to close the gap... A couple more weeks like that and we'll be right back in there...

All conjecture, I know, but I believe like SS57...

One step at a time, West Ham are our next target, if they draw at home with Birmingham and lose away to Fulham while at the same time we win at Derby and Brum, then we'll go into our game with them at WHL on 35pts and them on 37pts. A win will see us leapfrog them and be a hammer (excuse the pun) blow to their psychology, i think we might see them tail away after that.

Portsmouth meanwhile will have played two tricky away ties at Bolton and Everton with a winnable match at home against Sunderland which we'll have them slip up in and get a nil-nil draw meaning they'd be on 39pts with us on 38pts and them still to come to our place.

In fact the most positive thing about the run in is that they've all got to play us and, if we get the results in, the order in which the fixtures fall mean they'll facing us with us breathing down their necks.

We'll see anyway, truth is our most likely end of season position is our current one, but like SS says it's not beyond the realms and in the meantime we can have fun hoping.

All we can ask is that every one of the team gives 100% for the rest of the season. Jol and Hughton succeeded in turning things round from an impossible-seeming position last season after that horrible game at Bramall Lane; again, there is no reason whatsoever to suppose that Ramos and Poyet won't do as well, or even better. As I said, there's a fat lot of point in us all banging on about a 'Ramos Revolution' yet apparently not believing it's going to have a major effect.

If we get a winning run going, it's inevitably going to put pressure on the teams ahead. City, for one, are looking very shaky indeed already. One thing's for sure, no-one, but no-one is going to be looking forward to playing us at the moment. As that United fan said on that Reds forum link someone posted the other day, 'Thank feck we don't have to play those ****s again.'
