Think we have to concentrate on over hauling West Ham first and then anything is possible. It's in our own hands as we play all the teams in and around us as well as those we want to get past.
In our favor is that fact that we only have two of the so-called Big Four to play and not too many of the relegation threatened teams while the rest have a mixture of both. I still think that after our recent performances against Arsenal and ManU there's still a chance of European qualification via the league. Now what an achievement that would be!!

West Ham, Portsmouth, Blackburn, Man City and Villa all dropped points at the weekend... Man City and Portsmouth were playing Arsenal and Chelsea, but West Ham and Villa's were bad points dropped...

Last season there were a couple of weeks where nearly all the teams above us dropped points whereas we won our games which allowed us to close the gap... A couple more weeks like that and we'll be right back in there...

All conjecture, I know, but I believe like SS57...

Actually we'll need four or five weeks like that nightgoat but bugger it I can't fight all this wonderful optimism so I'm gonna start believing.

Spurs are back playing Champions League standard at the moment and getting better. 6th place is 12 point off. It will take Villa, City and Blackburn to revert to midtable performance while Spurs maintain a Champion League performance with big wins against City and Blackburn away.

Some choice quotes from one of my mates who is a diehard villa ST...

"Did you see our bench against Fulham, all championship standard at best!"

"O'neil is shite in the transfer market, we are a 3 man team. If Carew, Abonglahor (sic) or Young get injured, we look like a midtable team"
(not relevent but he then went on a rant about how MO'N should stop using 'we have a small squad' as an excuse... when it's his fault they have the small squad!)

The general consensus for them appears to be that if they made 2/3 good signings in the window, they'd be up there... but most think that since they haven't... unless they keep the 3 mentioned above fit... they'll be closer to 10th than 4th at the end of the season

Man City's position and status is entirely down to their winning home run at the start of the season... purely down to playing none of the big teams, and Elano... Elano is now off the boil as teams begin to figure him out... and as soon as Man City faced any real quality at home, they've crumbled (Us in the cup, Arsenal at the weekend)... they're CRAP away from home... and have to face 5 of the big 6 in the run in (Big 3 + Us, and both lots of scouse) having just lost to the other at the weekend

It's gonna be HARD, but not as hard as people think it will be!

People mention our performance against Utd as a yard stick yet forget that realistically, we threw 2 points away against them. Even if we matched that performance level for our remaining 13 games, there will be plenty of opportunity to do the same regardless of the opposition.

This is all conjecture anyway because you simply cannot forecast results accurately enough over a 3 month period to even gauge a prediction. We should close the gap on those fighting for europe but there are too many variables involved for us to to be considered part of that group. I don't want to burst any bubbles (not to mention his sig) but its too early for this talk.

I'm with the optimists. if we have 13 games left that's 39 points surely! added to the fact that everyone else will be drawing 1-1 or 0-0 I dont understand why no-one is talking about the CL next season.
