Saw this on twitter during the game, posted in the match thread but @LexingtonSpurs suggested it needs its own thread

Basically, they are all from this James Powell guy who was in a pub which held a Q&A with Freund the night before the Seattle game.

Strange comments as I really thought Holtby would be one of the few fringe players would Poch would really work with and turn into a real asset for us. Also thought he had a decent game earlier as well. I hope he gets given until January at least to show what he can do as I'd be disappointed if he was shipped out this early without really being given a chance to prove himself. He's shown glimpses here and at Fulham since he arrived that he has got some talent and would be a versatile player who can play almost anywhere in midfield.

@crackersTHFC ha he was the bollocks , said holtby was shit , need to sell him

@WindyCOYS was in the pub last night , freund was not a fan of holtby , asked him what he thought of him and he said ' next question please'

@WindyCOYS really gave a vibe that he's off , I asked him about working with the German kids , didn't think much of holtby at all

@WindyCOYS ability , I asked him directly if he fit in to pochs plan , that's when he said next question please , was strange .

I really think we'd be stupid to sell. It's not like we even need the money as from the sounds of things we're not lining up any major attacking signings.

I suspect that Freund's comments were tongue in cheek. I would hardly expect him to either big Holtby up, bearing in mind he was on laon second half of last season. Also, IIRC, Freund used to coach Holtby in the German U21 side and was one of the reasons we signed Holtby.

They seemed to have top banter in that Ledley king testimonial. Wouldn't surprise me if this was a joke that's been lost in translation

Obviously shipped out last year amid some complaints that he was not serious enough in training, but certainly seemed to come into camp with the right attitude.

Pochettino matters more than Freund, but it is a little worrisome if that is what the coaching staff is thinking - seems odd that we would ship Siggy out, if Holtby was out of favor though.

Freubd and Holtby have top banter going on between them, I can't see this being true. Something has been lost in the Chinese whispers here.

I wouldn't believe that anyway. Sounds like its been made up for attention or something - or the person in question is a bit limited in terms of not being able to discern what's humor and what's not lol

As if he'd be that unprofessional anyway.

Holtby is going to have a good season I think, I have a feeling this manager is going to be the one who gets the best out of him and anyway I can think of a dozen players who I ship out before getting rid of Lewis.

I think this is the remnants of the Sherwood/AVB wars.
cos Holtby might not be everyone's cup of tea, but he's not shite.
Whatever roles they played, AVB is gone now and they need to draw a line under it.

I doubt Freund has any insight to what might happen to Holtby - sadly I cannot imagine he has any influence any more.
I think we'll keep Holtby until Jan at the very least.
Freund needs to keep his mouth shut really.
