Daily mail reporting that we are finally about to sign Fryers from Standard Liege
Good news, we'll have the two Kyles vying it out for the RB position and Fryers competing with Ekotto for LB. Then if Ekotto does go we can bring in Rose and have those two in competition for that spot.
Kaboul can cover at RB in emergencies and Verts can cover at LB in emergenices.
Top quality back 4 with enough options to keep it consistent and solid.
Did you not watch Rose closely verses Liverpool, he was hopeless.
I didn't watch Rose at all versus Liverpool, i've just been going off of recent reports in regards to his current form.
Cheers for bringing me up to speed though.
Reports can be misleading. What is an excellent performance in a Sunderland shirt is an average one in a Spurs shirt. We have different criteria. We are after players capable of playing for a top 4 club and Champions League football.
Sunderland are after players who can keep them in the division.
Quinn said in the commentary against us that Sunderland were very defensive at the start of the season and have only recently started to attack a bit more.
Rose has had his winger to help him for the majority of the season so has performed in rearguard defence with cover. Now that he is not being protected by the left winger he is being exposed just as he was for Team GB. Highlights: http://www.mysoccerplace.net/video/liverpool-vs-sunderland-3-0-motd
Watch the first, 3 defenders sprint towards goal but not our Rose.
If we can buy Fryers for £3 million and sell Rose for £3 million in the summer that's good business. I can't see Rose's value growing much higher.

Have you seen Fryers in action though to justify your faith that he would be a better option then Rose?
I think you're undervaluing Rose a little bit there, he does have potential to get better and right now they love him at Sunderland. I'm sure we'd get more that £3 million out of them for him anyway considering how well he's performed for them.

Ales Ferguson has and he apparently rates him, all the reports at the time were that he was furious that he was leaving. Fergie has bought through an abundance of talent through and I see no reason not to trust his judgement, especially as Rose is as Stoof says, simply not an option.
He isn't a defender and showed against Liverpool he doesn't want to defend. The fact that 3 Sunderland defenders are sprinting back towards their own goal and he is just slowly jogging for 2 of the goals shows a disgraceful attitude and that Sunderland fans are easily impressed.
He may develop and good luck to him if he does, but he needs a lot of work and a lot of playing time which will have to come elsewhere.
BAE, Fryers, Walker, Naughton with Vertonghen as cover and Smith perhaps ready next season for cameos, Rose would be surplus to requirements.
No offence but that sounds like absolutely awful business to me. You've clearly not been paying very careful attention to how well Rose has been doing at Sunderland this season. He's been their star player and would be worth double that amount at the least. And what makes you think that Fryers is worth £3m? I doubt we'll pay that. It's just an arbitrary figure plucked out of the air by some tabloid hack.
It sounds as though you're basing your evaluation of Rose's time at Sunderland purely on one game.
That depends upon your definition of well. Well at Sunderland in a different system where he is not left exposed is different to at Spurs where the left back is often left exposed as Bale is playing further forward now. Teams target our left back as a result.
Rose has been used in a defensive side (Quinn's observation) so has help around. Anyone should get good reports in that system and has no bearing on whether he would be any good without that cover.
If you are happy with the attitude and commitment he showed against Liverpool fair enough, I'm not, that's not the standard of player that is going to improve our team. He showed for Team GB he wasn't good enough and showed it last season.
I shall get my Newcastle mate to keep me informed and concentrate on him in highlight packages.
