Why didn't Udogie run with the ball today?

Not blaming him for the defeat but I find it really weird.
.
Also they were running off their men all game, bordered on laziness at times
I find it weird that we have a team of absolute top class talent, but collectively all don't turn up at the same time. I mean, I get one, maybe two players have a mare, but with us, it always feels like it's the team. Always been that way.

Other than against Villa we’ve looked pretty shite for a while. Hopefully this is the shake up they’ve needed.

Absolutely right! Frustrating because when these players put the effort in they’re twice the team Fulham are. Fulham worked very hard, Robinson was excellent, Muniz got his goal, and we just didn’t do anything. Time for a Guinness or two and forget about it.
Yep, that's always been our problem, mentality.

Wherever Ange can take us, we were never going to get there without some major bumps in the road.

Today lot's went against us, the momentum would have changed significantly had we got a goal back with enough time, but ultimately we were humbled because of too much arrogance and too little effort. It's a good lesson for these players to take on the chin.

Ange is going to keep playing high risk football, and that will mean we will occasionally lose big. But irrespective of the tactics, this league is way too strong to turn up anywhere expecting an easy three points. That's what cost us today, and these players are now likely getting a rollicking. All good experience.
I don't think much went against us. We were just poor.

Villa was first back to back wins in the league since December, can't say I am surprised.

But what shocked me was the performance, worst under Ange so far, truly awful.

We may get 5th but I can't see 4th after that to be honest.

The media narrative is that we play exciting football. I've not really bought into that - it has looked to me like we are what we are (and what we have been for many years) - a work in progress.

Unlike previous teams we’ve had, I feel the players will be really disappointed with their performance today. The loss hurts but I still trust Ange to get the boys upbeat and positive for the next game. I would love for Ange to change the tactics depending on the opponent but as he said himself, he‘s not going to change the way he thinks. I think we just need to be patient with Ange. He’s shown he can do it and I have all the faith in him getting us silverware.
Ange has shown he can do it in inferior leagues.

Really need the senior players to set the example re urgency and desire. Didn't see that today.

I think the way we play, certainty in terms of build up requires everyone to be really sharp on the ball. We usually rely on breaking the press two ways - playing triangles and finding our way through or playing directly into our CF's feet, hoping the ball sticks and he can find a runner in behind.

If one or two players aren't on it then the whole team suffers. Opposed to the days of Bale/Kane where we have a superstar who can drag a team through a game singlehandedly.

We have a group of very good players, no truly world class ones.

Still feels like we have the wrong profile of wide forwards to really make Ange's system work properly and days like this highlight imo.

Just out muscled all over the park really.

You have to win the battle, or at least compete, in order for your quality to prevail.

Maybe the biggest concern for me with this season in mind is that last weeks' performance gave optimism for our start of season form and capabilities to return in similar fixtures. Now you look at the games like West Ham and Newcastle away, and you once again really wonder what are capabilities in them are.

I would feel a lot more confident in all of them if we made any adjustments to tighten up our defence a bit. Games like today are frustrating when Udogie and Porro are both exposing the areas behind them by going forward, but are also not affecting any of our attacking play.

Maddison has been annoying me a lot since his return from injury. I thought he'd turned a corner last week, but he was back to usual slow and too many touches today. Thinking you're the man while being a yard or two behind the needed pace is a shitty look. He embodies the idea of just needing to turn up and that's enough. He was a joke again today.
Personally mate I think he’s all fur coat and no knickers and have always felt that about him.

At £15m? he’ll be a decent squad player. Yes his finishing isn’t great but he is a threat… more so than Kulu and inconsistent Johnson.

Werner and Johnson
New striker, Son and/or Richarlison
New right forward and Kulusevski

Sell Gil
Sell/loan out Solomon
Sorry mate I don’t care if he’s £5m he’s pony end of ,today was a perfect example of what he gives you ,we shouldn’t be signing players just because they’re cheap ,there’s a reason why they’re cheap.
