Slightly clumsy phrasing, what I meant was that if DL was to publicly rule out a sale, as I think he should, it wouldn't stop the speculation or stop Madrid trying to buy Bale but it would convince the supporters that it will not happen. Contrary to what everyone outside the club thought during the Modric saga, once DL said he 'will not be sold', I knew he wouldn't. Without that certainty, for me doubt remains.

It has to be the case as there has been no official statement from the club that he is not for sale.

I will say it again, Gareth Bale will become the first £100m footballer in the next couple of weeks, a milestone in football history.

Just think of what AVB, Baldini and DL could do with that.

Well AVB won't be doing anything with it as he'll walk out.

There might not have been any statement on the Spurs website, but AVB has already said that he's been given assurances that Bale will stay. Paulinho said that he'd been assured that AVB and Bale would be staying. All the quotes from Bale have been about him looking forward to the new season and continuing to work with AVB. Bale is on the cover of the new multi-million pound money maker that is the FIFA computer game. He's reportedly happy here. He's got a young family. He's at a great club. Perhaps most importantly I suspect he'll want to prove that his form last season was no fluke.

I'm sure he'll be off next summer, but it's baffling that you are so convinced he'll be leaving this summer when all the evidence suggests the opposite.
