Tanguy Ndombele is keen on joining PSG with Tottenham locked in talks with Ligue 1 giants over a potential loan deal which may see Georginio Wijnaldum come into the negotiations to join Antonio Conte's side

  • Spurs star Tanguy Ndombele is attracting interest from PSG, Napoli, and Roma
  • The £65million man has struggled to become a regular during time in London
  • Mauricio Pochettino is interested in working with the Frenchman once again
  • PSG midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum could become part of the deal this month
Tottenham Hotspur remain in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a loan deal for Tanguy Ndombele.

PSG initially offered Leandro Paredes as part of the deal which was dismissed and Georginio Wijnaldum could yet come into the negotiations.

Ndombele, 25, is a close friend of PSG striker Kylian Mbappe and is keen to make the switch. He also has interest from Napoli, Roma and Atletico Madrid.

Does anyone know Simon Jones' track record? Sami is usually good but don't know about him.

Decent player but tends to pass sideways a lot. We have others who can do what he does (except score goals from midfield). Need someone more progressive in their passing (like Brozovic or Eriksen for Inter).

Now i would i approve of this. Very steady player, seems to thrive in big games and scores a good few.
Probably not true tho, i get more excited if ITK mention it.

Think you are massively downplaying this element. Almost all successful teams have had this.
Yes, when you have guys like Eriksen you will have guys like Dele scoring goals. Creativity is more of a priority than goals, plus he hasn't been scoring goals for a long long time. More of a chance Dele starts to score them on regular basis.

He is a very good player but 31 is getting on a bit for a midfielder. That isn't to say I wouldn't take him if we get a good price for tanguy off psg. (y)

We are creating loads of chances since Conte came in but aren't burying them. Right now I'm a lot more interested in us finding someone who's composed and can put it in the back of the net than another who makes silky dribbles and passes (not saying I don't want that) but aren't making runs in behind etc.

Don’t disagree and I’ve been banging on about creativity in midfield for longer than I can remember.

I would love us to buy a playmaker, but I just don’t think it’s high on the list of Conte’s priorities. The system seems to allow for at least one CM to arrive on the end of things and I’d feel far more confident with Wijnaldum doing that than any of Winks/Skipp or Hojberg.

Although to be fair I haven’t seen him play since he left Liverpool.

Judging by his games for Netherlands and PSG he isn't good at making runs in behind either. He isn't mobile and composed like he was 4-5 years ago.

I think he could be a great short term option on loan if we're sending Ndombele the other way and want some extra depth to tide us over until the summer. Not sure if we'd want to pay such (presumably very big) wages to a 31 year old on a permanent deal, though.

Question is, would he want to come? Even if things aren't going brilliantly for him at PSG, he's still started about half their matches. If he's happy to be loaned out after only 6 months it hardly bodes well for his future there - feels a bit like giving up.

That's fair and if that's the case then hopefully we'll go for someone else. I didn't really comment in regards to Gini specifically as I haven't seen him play since he left the prem. I meant it more in general terms.

I’ve never seen Kessie play, if it was between him or Gini, who would we want?

All that said he would be improvement on some of our midfielders and he could cover any other midfielder since he is versatile, plus with Covid around we could use someone like that. He tends to pick up knee injuries so he probably doesn't have greatest lonegevity but for 6 months it wouldn't be bad.

Wijnaldum is a no brainer. Better than anything we have right now- excellent mentality, work rate, ability. That he's 31 is a good thing in my view- he's a wily player with great experience. Can't see him coming back to the PL so soon after leaving Lpool though.

Kessie for more or less all reasons.
Lower wages, higher ceiling, longevity, skillset, physicality just to mention a few.

I’d rather we just bring in Kessie. But, if the only way to get Tanguy out the door (and hopefully this loan will include a reasonable option to buy), then I’m fine with Gini for 6 months.

Also if he joins Conte after dealing with Klopp's training sessions for years, then Pochettino, he is either a masochist (probably this if he joins us) or has 10/10 work ethic.
