Might be that it doesn't matter who we sign if manager feel he has to play status names. Son will play a lot no matter how well he does.

Solomon will be fine and I’d rather start him than Son on the wing under Ange tbh. Gil I’m not convinced by whatsoever and he’s got zero chance of getting a look in on the left with Perisic and Solomon ahead of him as back ups. On the right he’s even worse at beating his man on the outside than Kulu and almost exclusively cuts inside. He’s another winger you can put on the pile of no use to us in these circumstances, sounds harsh but he’s got no chance of doing anything for us, won’t get a chance on the left and isn’t much use on the right. We absolutely NEED to sign at least one winger better suited

Haven’t completely written him off as a player. Just questioning if 30m is the wisest choice for where he plays and the attributes he has. I think we need effective pacey wide players more than a back up/rotation for a CF. He could play there but watching him tonight, not sure he’s a natural for that position. I’ll be honest I’ve probably watched more tonight than the people blindly hoping he signs over a compilation on YouTube.
apologies, I wasn’t trying to twist it, just feels like a lot of the time on here, people are itching to jump on a post that doesn’t immediately come across as positive to white knight or something.

Squad-wise, we're desperately thin up top. Richy has had a terrible time with fitness since he was been with us. We bought him in the first place because we needed cover for H. If he gets injured, we don't have a replacement. Sure Son could play there in a pinch, but then we go back to having very little cover on the wings. Ange will make subs, so having 2 or 3 attacking options on the bench seems worthwhile. How many other clubs only have 1 striker on their books? Maybe Veliz is further along than he seems or Ange thinks that Scarlett is ready, but otherwise we need cover for the 9 (whether that is Gift or someone else). I don't disagree that we could use another tricky winger that gets to the touchline, but we also need a 9. It's the only position where we aren't overstocked numerically.
I don't have a strong opinion of GO. I won't pretend to have watched him play much. But his stats are unreal. Unless the scouting team think that his game won't transfer well into our side, he seems like the kind of player we should take a punt on. The 9 is a tough position to fill. Teams are spending huge sums of money for potential. Players with far worse stats (Jackson scored 12/35 in Spain and Hojlund scored 9/32 in Italy) have gone for bigger fees. If he moves to a top 5 league and keeps putting up 1/1 numbers, then they'll be asking 100mil for him instead of 30.
