If the choices are lose him this summer for £100m+ or lose him on a free in a year, I'd reluctantly let him go this Summer and take the money. I appreciate everything he has done for us, he's been the greatest player I've ever seen in our colours, but I think if we are going to attempt any sort of rebuild we need to rip off the Harry Kane plaster sooner rather than later.

I don't trust us to reinvest that money wisely in the slightest, but if "life after Kane" has to be a thing we might as well go through it at our lowest ebb and try to rebuild with no expectations.

It's going to be a fucking rough few years regardless of what happens with him.
Yeah I agree but I'm not sure I can see an English team offering that money at the moment when he's free in 12 months anyway.

Dont forget as well that we are supposedly currently trying to convince Nagellsman to sign for us.

I imagine his first question will be is Kane staying? And if the answers no the convo will end pretty quick.

Fortunately we have two clubs - Man United and Chelsea who have both deep pockets, and a need for a striker.

I think either/both will offer big money to fill a need they each will think is the missing piece to competing for a title.

It could come down to how much he’s worth to us for 1 season!?

If he wants to stay in England and only Man U come in for him in the summer and only offer 40/50m will Danny boy accept?

Obviously Levy is hoping there’s a bidding war between 2/3 clubs in which case it’s probably the best scenario for everyone (except us!)
No chance he goes for £40/£50mil, would take upwards of at least £80mil id say, Hazard went for about £100mil with 1 year left i think. I do think Kane will go this summer though.

Kane was lied to by Levy, stayed at the club and signed a long contract in belief we would compete.

We've gone backwards and I wouldn't be surprised of Kane feels a little pissed off with where we are and where he was led to believe we would be.

After not being allowed to leave for Man City, which i don't blame levy for as their offer was derisory. He isn't going to put himself in a situation like this again. If he isn't allowed to leave, he will go on a free and you cant blame him.

Best case scenario is say we get JN and he is fully backed. We actually compete and perhaps Kane will chose us over moving on a free.

Worse case scenario, Pick takes the Chelsea job and Kane decides to join him there

I don't really get the statements like above that focus on the money. We've shown time and again we don't know how to spend it.

I don't care how much we get for him. I'd want to frame it instead around what the succession plan would be. Would it be Richarlison as the main man? Would we try and sign a direct replacement? Would we instead get a CF and an AM? Would we try and bring some of the kids in?

For example, if our solution was Evan Ferguson and James Madison, I think I'd do it.

If there was any chance of him staying longer than one season I'd say keep him, but there clearly isn't - he's looked emotionally checked out of the club since Jose's firing and his move to Man City falling through.

Kudos to him for having the professionalism to keep playing well and scoring (although the personal records I imagine are a motivating factor for that).

With the knowledge that he's really only going to be here one more season at the most I'd take the money this summer and just get on with a fresh start and general overhaul of as much of the club as possible.

Completely agree mate.

Time for a complete and utter root and branch change, only the future matters now.

If only we had a manager to have a say and be able to get him to remain. Then there’s the huge task of getting Levy et al to back the manager financially!
Don’t hold out too much hope of that happening though.

Any player who doesn't truly want to be at the club should be allowed to leave, Kane included.
If that means selling him this summer for a good fee of 75m+ then so be it.

If we had the squad we had 5 years ago but Kane in the situation he's in, I'd say cash in and rebuild.

My big worry though is that we're so short on quality in attack, with Son on the decline and our midfield not chipping in with goals, that we'd be in seriously deep dogshit without him. When we sold Sheringham to Man Utd then we instantly went into a relegation battle the following year, and when we sold Berbatov and Keane then we did the same until we were able to rectify it in the January transfer window. Our track record in replacing star strikers is not good.

We've over relied on Kane for years and I worry it'll get really messy if his goals aren't there to paper over the cracks of poor performances. Can anyone remember the last time we played well without him in the side? Beating City in Nuno's first game is probably the only one I can really think of in the last 4 years - and even then we could have been about 4-0 down after the first 20 minutes.

For a couple of seasons maybe more I’ve thought would we survive in this league without Kane?

His goals and assists have masked a lot of issues

No way Levy entertains a bid from Chelsea for Kane. They’re miles off a challenge, too.

Ivan Toney when he’s got his ban sorted out . He is a class centre forward. Surprised if Man U or Chelsea don’t go for him. Seems they are waiting till end of the season to sort out the betting.
