The diagonal ball with curve that the poster referred to was exactly the sort of pass Eriksen pulled off in his pomp. The pass Son slid thru for Kane to score late on from was more of the type of through ball you would probably not associate with Eriksen

Not outside of the boot but similar vision and weight of pass, I love this goal so much.

back to his best you can see why Jose wanted to get 90mins in him the other night. Long term we need a proper back up to not burn him out.
Not back to his best yet but you saw flashes again which is a really good sign. Kane at his best buries those chances and has 4 goals last night.

Okay I see a lot of people disagreeing with my post and so I think a lot of us need to re-examine the kind of player eriksen is/was. The clip shady posted above is the type of through ball he excelled at. They were crosses/through balls. I don’t remember him ever playing a pass with the outside of his boot a la modric that was just not his game. He is/was a metronomic passer with good range but he was never particularly creative or skillful. I expect to get negged to death over this but through balls and outside of the box creativity is what has always held him back from being truly world class.

Me too ... Dele's form seems to have been inextricably linked to that of Eriksen, and Dele's downturn in form coincided with Eriksen rejecting the contract offer and going off the boil spring 2019. Dele is all about late runs from an inside forward position on the left. The number of goals he scored like that from Eriksen or Toby passes is insane!

I stand by my comment. You act like I’m saying he was a bad player. I was just pointing out what he wasn’t good at which is slide rule through balls and on the ball skills/creativity. Everything else he was superb at.
And that compilation has a myriad of examples of how your critiscm of this one thing is weird and wrong.

But the example you used was a diagonal ball in the last third, from mid-flank to a central runner, with both weight and curve, which was actually Eriksen's main speciality. A better example of a 'slide rule' through pass was Sons for Kane's goal last night. Slide rule passes tend to be straight, vertical passes through a narrow gap along the floor.

I agree with your definition of slide rule passes. I still don’t believe eriksen was particularly great at those but he was superb at sending in a cross from midfield on a dime

I see the club PR is out in force, milking Harry's goal for absolutely everything... surprise surprise!

A prem striker scores a 1 V 1 - only the elite do that to be fair... Must admit: It was like watching Aguero last night.

I love how Gary Linekar has so many great opinions he's so willing to share. Thank god for things like twitter in this day and age. On the internet you can be assured the best opinions are always given the greatest platform to spread their message. It's Marvellous.

Now if you'll please excuse me I have some important things to get back to. I'm in the middle of a youtube playlist title'd Cat's vs Cucumbers.

Let me explain. It is the difference between good and top class. Knackered after 90 minutes after only 1 game in 6 months and he was utterly immaculate.

I don't expect Sky and it's pundits to appreciate that but us Spurs fans ought to. We have a legend on our hands, let's enjoy it.

I think you’re supporting the wrong team or you don’t understand the meaning of the word support.

Looking back on this thread, there's nothing but a very strange string of astounding criticisms from this poster. I suspect an interloper from down the road.
