Well he's tried to phase it diplomatically but I'm not sure what some of his current team mates will think off this. I'm surprised he didn't say some of them need to 'man up'.

Anyway...the bottom line is this doesn't need to be said in public at all at this time so if poor form from Kane.
Having thought about it, I'd disagree. The complacency in this squad is awful, even VDV has said they think they're better than they are.

When the Club talisman, and our only really true WC player, effectively says the team needs to "man up," you take notice if you have any aspirations of your own to achieve the highest level.

This lot sulked.

We didn't miss out on Europe because of his comments, we'll miss out because we have far too many passengers with an over inflated opinion of their own ability, status and worth.

I feel nothing for him now. Just get the maximum fee. Don't sell him for less than 150.

Just want some new players to feel attached too cos I hate these lot

If Harry wants to leave this Summer then we should let him go if our demands our met.

An unhappy Harry is no good for anyone. Can you imagine the season long speculation?

Unfair for the new manager.

Clean break

The only thing I question about the interview is the timing.

I've got no issues with the questions etc. The media will pick and choose certain quotes to fit whatever narrative they want to run with.

Levy has the power and its up to him to respond accordingly.

The whole hour is available now. I said the same as you yesterday and I still agree.

He says quite an amazing thing about Mourinho and working on fitness and going in the gym. He expected the players to do gym work off their own backs, it wasn’t a scheduled thing. Well, that’s just stupid. Footballers will always try and cut corners. Not everyone is as professional as Harry Kane. Obviously the players didn’t keep their fitness levels where they should be. Quite a revealing insight there and obviously a huge mistake by Mourinho.

Makes complete sense with how we look at absolutely rinsed at the end of the match. The fitness of teams he's left in the past like Man U and Chelsea have been questioned.

Our strength under Poch was our collective workrate and pressing. We used to literally keep going until the other team tired and we could punish them. That has been on the wane for a few seasons now, with players just relying their individual ability to try and get through matches. That is fine if you have a whole team of world class performers, not for us who are trying to punch above our weight.

We really need to get back to that collective approach of running harder, pressing more, to mask our flaws in ability.

Sky are ****s. Neville's a ****. The whole thing stinks. The entitlement of Neville/United and Sky's unquestioning complicity sucks.

How can anyone think the sports media in this country isn't bent?

Idk I feel like that's just the price I've seen quoted lots online but now that I think about it I feel that was just pulled out of thin air unless Ali Gold or Dan KP said it before. Personally I think it's a realistic price post-covid, especially if Kane really pushes to leave which it looks like he's doing and no club will pay more than 150m imo.

You also need to remember that Haaland is available for 75m next summer with his clause so if we don't sell Kane now we might end up losing him for very little in comparison next window as a big club that needs a striker will just go for Haaland instead so it limits our selling options.
Sorry still can't agree, I don't feel that's realistic at all. That Bissouma guy has had £40m put on his head for example. I know they're not like for like but Kane is ten times the player. If £250m in cash and players isn't on the table I don't think the negotiations will even start.

I just watched the whole interview. I definitely feel alot better now. IMO he's essentially setting the club an ultimatum to invest and get us competing at the top again, or let him leave - which I think is more than fair enough. The ball is now in Daniel's court...

Definitely. I’m only half way through (or missed it) where he says spurs need to buy a couple of players. He does say football changes quickly.

It does seem like something that should have gone out in a few weeks time. The timing of the future comments stinks a bit but the rest of the interview was alright. Neville could have stitched him up a lot worse on the transfer front if you ask me.

Thanks for posting. I must say I was expecting him to be more vague but it certainly seems he wants a move. Essentially he’s looking for a sit down with Levy to discuss a move not plans for the summer and if he will stay. It’s going to be up to Levy to convince him to stay. From my point of view I do not want him to leave, obviously, and I would be disappointed if he does but I don’t feel angry about him wanting to leave. This is football, the best players want to play for the best teams, this isn’t news. If he starts to kick up a fuss in training, starts sulking, then yes I will have a problem with him. But wanting to leave to play at a higher level is understandable regardless if I would be sad to see him go. It’s the nature of the sport and until we become winners this will happen again and again.

Tbh if this interview sticks a rocket up Levy’s ass and actually gets him to try and fix the problems then great. So much of our future as a club hinges on what Levy does over the next two months. As for the timing of this interview, I don’t really have a issue with it as our season is clearly over. If we were still playing for something then maybe not, but from our shocking performance on Wednesday it’s very clearly the squad are mentally somewhere else.

If Kane's only options are city and utd then are they really viable moves?

Utd - If cavani and martial go then they obviously have a need for a fwd, but surely they also need big investment at the back? Have goals really been their issue this year? And they spent all last summer refusing to pay for Sancho, would they really throw £150m at one player, who definitely would improve them up top but they'd probably end up with the same problems as this year?
And are they even guaranteed to win trophies next year? More likely than spurs but I'm not sure I see them putting a title run on unless their defence is better, they've scored 15 more than spurs but conceeded the same, 10 more than city and chelsea.

City - Definitely need a striker, definitely have the money to pay for Kane. But would they prefer a younger Haaland who has a connection with the club? They were being linked with Lewandowski who has obviously played under Pep at Bayern. And last summer they were close to pulling Messi out of Barca, would they go back for him and would they want to splurge huge money on both Messi and Kane?

Kane may well want to go, but I'm not massively convinced that there is a market there for him this summer, more likely that Son may move imo as he has less time on his contract and I struggle to see why he'd want to sign a new one, and I wouldve thought there'd be more options for him to move at a lower price.

I've watched the full hour long interview now. Honestly, Harry is a very vanilla kind of lad. Nothing he says is anything other than his normal "yeah, no, of course, agree with everything but don't say a bad word about anyone" sort of natter. About as revelatory as blank sheet of paper.

Handy golfer though.

What I've taken from this is that he definitely wants to leave but he wants what's best for the club, whether he leaves this season or not it's another matter altogether, however if he isn't allowed to stay he'll put his head down.

Also just watched the whole thing and I think all in all it's not a bad interview, as others have said it's the timing that is particularly shit.

He knows Levy holds the cards due to length of contract and this is stage 1 of the negotiatons. At my more positive I think Levy has a chance to convince Kane to buy back into the Spurs project but it will be a really tough sell for him. As always, new manager is of massive importance.

I didn’t want to say anything but I can’t keep my mouth quiet anymore. I’m actually very disappointed in Harry Kane, the way he’s handled things this week. The season isn’t even over and he makes this interview with Neville, basically saying he is wants to leave

A lot of Spurs fans was calling Kyle Walker a snake when he left, what’s the difference if Kane leaves to Man City? A lot of fans was really angry at Rose for making his interviews, what’s the difference now?

If Kane leaves for a British club I will lose all my love for him. I won’t hate him same way I don’t hate Walker, but I won’t care for him anymore same way I don’t care for Walker anymore

The club will always be ahead of any player, we support the club not the individual player

Having said all that I still think Kane will be here next season. He will try his best to get a move to Man City but I don’t think it will happen

Did you listen to the interview or are you reacting to all of the spin and bullshit that it has generated?

Kane's time is up. Even if DL doesn't sell. His comments are going to divide the dressing room. Practically saying they're not good enough and especially praising players like de Bruyne's quality.
Some of them have a very weak mentality Kane saying it in public is what some of them need to hear. They need to man up or piss off out of our club.

This was well known and was discussed at length in the Mourinho thread before he was fired. The Athletic wrote a detailed article about how Mourinho effectively replaced Sports Science with massage tables t both Man U and Spurs and showed detailed stats as to how Man U's fitness dropped over their two years under Mourinho and took OGS a year to get it back to where it was before. The main reason we have conceded so many late goals is because we are not as fit as opponents. The reason we make so many mistakes is because players are tired. When Kane says the players were expected ot sort out the gym work themselves, just remind yourself of all the funny videos of the 1st team playing cricket and basketball this season.

Yes but this is the first time we’ve actually been told that there was no scheduled gym work. He says the sports scientists still gave them programmes to do but obviously Mourinho left them to their own devices to do it. We know and have done for years that this group of players don’t have that desire and determination to be the best. If they did we wouldn’t keep losing the big games. A huge mistake, which obviously happened at Man U as well. Players are spoilt kids who need their hands held. They don’t have to do anything for themselves, everything gets done for them. It was naive in the extreme from Mourinho and definitely contributed to his downfall.
