tbf, from the outside it makes sense: only five players have gone for £100m+, none in the PL (neymar, mbappe, coutinho, felix and griezmann). it's £30m+ more than city's record fee and £11m more than the PL record transfer.
What other players have gone for is irrelevant. Why should we, or anyone else for that mater sell for what pundits consider a fair price?
The answer is we shouldn't.

Forget what the records are, forget what certain clubs have paid in the past. His value is whatever Levy decides it is, and nobody else can say it isn't.

Watching that Neville interview it's mad to think that they're basically 20 years apart age wise, Kane has always been remarkably mature

That's his price, rather than value. Whether that's the right judgement is another matter

If someone is prepared to pay his value, and the price is unrealistically high, that could be a mistake

Kane's time is up. Even if DL doesn't sell. His comments are going to divide the dressing room. Practically saying they're not good enough and especially praising players like de Bruyne's quality.
They aren't good enough though and have been getting an easy ride for a few seasons now, wholesale changes please. Like others I think/hope this is a nod towards Levy to invest and upgrade the playing squad.

The interview didn’t come out till yesterday when we couldn’t qualify for EL so how do you work that out?

Fact is he should have not had any of this in the media this week. The Sky leak on Monday came from his camp. The interview with Neville was filmed last week. The whole thing has been coordinated and planned by Harry and his family to try and get a deal sorted with Man C before the Euros, with total disregard for the end of our season. No need for it, badly timed, and he's gone down in many people' estimations because of it. I hope Levy films an interview with BT Sports and releases it two days before England's biggest game this summer saying he will not consider any offers for Kane, even £200M, that he signed a 6 year contract that still has 3 years to run.

No it's both. He brings a lot in commercially as well. It's not just replacing his out put on the pitch because I can guarantee sponsors(both current and potential would rather he was here than not. There's a lot more to it than just losing 20+ goals a season.

Still don’t think, Spurs will sell Kane.
Can you imagine how toxic the fanbase will become. He still , needs to sell those corporate tickets, No one spending 5k to watching Danny Ings .
Spurs need a Right back, two centre backs, a creative midfield and one or two forwards.
50% of transfer generally failure, with Hitchen buys it about 75%.

Kane will be sold next summer,But if Harry doesn’t start against Leicester he’s going because Teflon would risk his 130 million.

Why do people claim City aren’t our rivals?
Surely every team in the league is a rival?

Yeah, I can see people‘s point about them being far and away a better team than us right now, we have had a rough couple of seasons and they are flying high, but it’s not always about the here and now. If we have any ambitions of competing at the upper end of the league, or for the cups, we can’t keep selling our best players to the likes of City. Not only does it weaken us, but it strengthens them too and makes them even harder to catch.

Exactly. Clean cut, England Captain, massively adds a lot of very positive brand values.

Quite simply, no club will be prepared to pay what Harry Kane is worth to us. And only a financially doped one could afford it in the current climate. Man C, Chelsea, PSG. And we do not need to sell. The £170M loan from the Bank of England was taken as it was a fantastic 0.5% interest rate, and you'd have to be stupid not to take that kind of loan when you face large operational losses. Would not be surprised if Levy actually invested it to make money. In the last year the rich have got richer as investments have grown massively. For example, the FTSE 100 index in the last year has grown by ~17% (6k -> 7k).
