Selling Kane is quite a statement - it screams we are not a big or elite club and we have been grossly mismanaged. The fact that most on here don’t even blame Kane also says a lot.

Losing the best player to come out of our academy since Glenn Hoddle Is just heartbreaking.

The club will continue as it always has before, occasionally flirting with success, but never quite making it, (because our Chairman isnt really motivated by football success), before crashing down to earth again.

Starting the season with Aurier and Dier in the squad but no Kane sums up Daniel Levy’s management of the squad over many years.

Oh and who do we play first game of the season in a fixture that was chosen completely at random????
Pool doesn't seem to be mismanaged after selling Coutinho and Suarez for big money. Investing well and won the PL plus CL aftet they both left.

I'm sort of surprised that many people appear to have been hit hard by this report, it's based on nothing more than we already know and written up by a hack as a story to fill space and get in on the act.
That doesn't alter the fact mind you, that Harry Kane is leaving, last year was the "one more year" to hopefully achieve something with us and this year is the sad goodbye.
Harry Kane is effectively, sadly, too good for the likes of us at the moment and at his age he needs to make the move now, he's entitled to win some silverware and to be honest it is unacceptable that a player of his class should finish his career empty handed.
We are embarking on a new drive forward, a new project if you will, and he ain't got time to be part of it.
Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but we might as well come to terms with it and start getting excited about what's ahead, not least with some of our own youngsters.

If the story is right about Levy phoning to say he can go then I wouldn't be surprised after it's been leaked in such an amateur way that he now turns around and sticks another 20m on the 160m price.

Why not eh?!

We sold Berbatov, we got better.

We sold Bale, we got better.

If we sell Kane we will get better.

Last year was the end of this cycle. As said above the final roll of the dice was Jose.

A rebuild is more exciting than another year like last year with Kane and Son doing thier best with a load of sub standard performances around them.

Gollini, Romero, Tomiyasu, Gli.

These signing wouldn't be happening otherwise. We go again.

Need to get that bit of tottenham magic back.

I wouldn’t be remotely surprised if Kane goes this window. We’re clearly spending money this window regardless of the doom and gloom forecasts of us being skint. This is Enic reinvesting the transfer fee, like they did with Bale. It’s still going to hurt like a bowling ball to the bollocks when he turns up against us

One of things that annoys me most about all this is the Sun couldn’t even wait to report it after we had got some players in!
We can never have anything nice without someone p’ing on our chips.

Whilst I agree they spent the coutinho money very well, I dont think the same can be said for the Suarez money. They spent that as well as we spent the bale money...Ricky lambert, Mario balotelli, Lazar Markovic and Dejan Lovren weren't exactly great moves for them.

With that said, we wasted most of the bale money before, hopefully we can have more of a Liverpool selling coutinho window where we actually get the right players in this time (lessons have been learned etc etc....)

The article is weird how it’s mixing in Charlie Kane’s wedding, like a Hello photo feature. I guess it’s a career high for Charlie too and he’s having his moment.

we empirically did not get better after selling berbatov and bale (at least not without a lot of time, a change of management and a lot of different players). we actually got a lot, lot worse

At the end of the Leicester game several players went over to congratulate Harry, personally think that was his last game for us, just hope when he goes to City somehow he misses their opening game.
Financially Spurs and many other PL clubs just can't compete with City , didn't realise what a massive operation it is..

no amount of money makes selling kane worth it because there's no amount of money that can replace him. i mean people cite these huge sums: barcelona got a record fee for neymar and couldn't replace him properly, and they had a lot more pull than we currently do.

Everytime we have got better. Fact. I don't love Levy but since 2008 the change in the club has been astronomical.

Not instantly but we have grown as a club and achieved better things. The Bale, VDV, Modric era which followed Berba exit was surpassed by the this era.

Yes it takes a bit of time and getting it right all rebuilds do.

You can only evaluate this Kane sale after a few seasons. The signings need to settle, and we will need a few more transfer windows.

Then with the stadium and increased financial power we might finally be at the top this next time round.

Look at Liverpool with Coutinho. If you sell your best player and do it right good things can happen.

I feel like Harry is replaceable. No single player will come in and give us his output but with the money we’ll be able to buy a couple quality CB’s so theoretically we should concede less and we’ll have more goal threats than just the two we had last year. I’d argue the players that are truly irreplaceable are the ones who take the bull by the horns in the big moments and I’d question how many massive goals has Harry scored in his time here? Bale was irreplaceable as he seemed to score them every second week for us before he left. Call me crazy but I’d argue that Son would be a bigger loss.

The hardest thing about it is that he’s one of our own and up until January this year I genuinely thought he’d never leave. But from a football point of view I think we’ll move on and probably become a better team for it.

Does anyone else not think that there is a small chance that a FUCKING WEDDING isn't actually going to be interrupted to announce Harry Kane's bloody transfer??

I'm not saying he's not going to leave, but I'd love to have seen the bride's face when that ruined her day in the spotlight.

It's laughable - The Sun is king of the scummy redtops.
