We might decide not to sell him, after it's been such an effective tool for club PR :cautious:

Just have to watch out for any suspicious activity around the site.

Was that on Charlie’s chopping board

In a sense I feel bad for Kane. For a decade he's been hugely significant for us and committed to a long term deal in a place where - had the team spent money - we were in position to keep plowing forward. Now a few years pass and we spend either poorly or not at all. By last year we were an utter mess and finished the season very much on the downswing with no real prospects for the immediate future and total uncertainty re: who the manager would be. If you're Kane, and you're 28 with a long history of injuries, it's not unreasonable to think - right then, I've done my part here, but the future is bleak, its time for me to leave while I still can. And realistically, I don't think we even would have begrudged him had he kept everything professional. But now its months later, and he's put himself in a terrible situation. He's seriously damaged his relationship with the fans who have supported him for a decade, and the best case scenario is that he gets a move to a team that's already won everything but the CL, and whose fans will never love him unless he brings them that title. More than that, we've seen time and again how easily a fan base will turn on a gazillion-pound player that doesn't deliver; if he gets hurt a few times in the next few years or United or Chelsea grab the next great talent in a few years, City fans will not stand by him. And 5 years from now when his career is winding down, instead of being a beloved player with a statute outside the new ground, there's a pretty good shot that he'll finish his career unbeloved of either fan base. Not sure that a few winners medals are worth that.

Can anyone remember his reaction to Bale coming in? Was he happy we were showing ambition or was he a bit ambivalent?

I am just trying to wonder if it put his nose out of joint no longer being the biggest star at the club. Not saying it did, but I can’t remember him being as excited as us fans about bale’s return.
So to rectify this he wants to go to a team full of the biggest stars?

As expected, they're beginning to buckle. (also love Delaney's exasperation at the whole thing)

Reckon this is us briefing our response to the Telegraph. Set the expectation.

Tbh though, I have to say, if I was City I'd probably have done the same thing they have done mostly.

Imagining we know that the 'quick-acceptance' price is 150m AND that if necessary we'll pay it.

As the buying club, we'll pay more the later in the window it gets, knowing that the seller will be more tempted to accept less the earlier the money comes in AS LONG AS they don't definitely know we'll pay up in the end. Managers and DoF want the time and certainty of what they're working with so the earlier the sale the better.

100m bid early, no expectation of acceptance but start crafting the narrative, riling people up, trying to make the intended price seem too steep.

Then it's over to the player and agent to do their bit. (At this point, they did it very poorly).

Next, rise to a tempting offer - 125m - as news drag on, fans restless and, crucially, buyable players risk disappearing (eg Vlahovic). I'd be hoping the selling manager and DoF are getting twitchy about such things. Is it better to bank the cash and go shopping? Especially if there's some jeopardy about whether a higher offer will be forthcoming.

Then wait till late in the day to offer it seeing as that gives the best chance of getting the player for less. Sure, we might expect the selling club to do hardball but little reason not to make them actually go through with it.

It was a wall of text to begin with, but I stopped here.
Yeah, if there's one thing I know about SC, it's that if you want people to read your shit, for God's sake keep it short.
Or at least break it into spaced paragraphs.

We don't have the attention span to deal with that much text in one hit.
Baby steps and bullet points!

Ideally they pay our price and he goes. Sunday was the most positive I’ve felt about the team in a long time, and Kane was nowhere to be found. If there’s any chance he disrupts what seems like a really good feeling in the squad, I don’t want him in the shirt ever again. He was the best striker in the world last season and we finished 7th. Yes Jose had something to do with it, and maybe it makes the club seem weak if we sell and encourage more players to do similar to what Kane has done, but I don’t care. The level of disrespect he’s shown has made him worthless to me. I don’t want someone like that at the club.

Get rid, go for Vlahovic ASAP, find a better CB than Milenkovic, and try to add a top creative or B2B midfielder, and the squad is better than if Kane stays.

meh. He was the best striker in the premiership. ? Think he’d be the third best in the bundesliga. Maybe second. I agree with the rest of your post completely. Just think the best striker in the world thing is a lot more of a discussion than us Spurs fans understand. And he’s not in the discussion for best player in the world.

I expect if I hated my eyes enough to look on a United forum opinions on the relative merits of Kane and Bruno would be aired in reverse to the way are on this one. Jumping on any glimmer of a reason to dismiss one and lapsing into transports every time the other manages to tie his laces.

Football is stupid.

What is amusing with the “Levy refuses to pick up the phone” part is that when you call CK66, it goes straight to answerphone every time!
"Thank you for calling CK66. Your call is important to us. Please select from the following four options:

"If you are a footballer seeking representation, press 'Q';

"If you are Man City calling for an update on the Harry Kane situation, press 'Sun'

"If you are Daniel Levy calling to say you're accepting our moronic shit and derogatory offer from Man City, please, please, PLEASE stay on the line and one of our agents will answer you shortly. For the love of God don't hang up!"

He’s in the echelon of Lewandowski, Haaland, Benzema, and Lukaku (CR7 if we want to include him as a striker too). That’s probably more fair. Certainly the impact Kane had on his team wasn’t of the level of the rest of those players, which probably makes your take correct.

Round out the squad with top young players and get rid of a potential massive problem on and off the pitch. I honestly think it’s a no brainer.

£150m is an acceptable number - hopefully this is true

The bigger question for me would therefore becomes: whether we want any of their (willing) players as part of the deal

- If Laporte is, I would...not sure he would
- Silva I would be happy with...not sure he would
- Jesus...well, if we were getting Vlahovic, I wouldn't...but if we weren't, I think it's a more difficult question, and I'd be more inclined to be supportive. Would we really otherwise be able to get a better striker in, let alone one who's already accustomed to the Premiership

I still think £150m is a bit light and don’t see Levy taking that. Might get him to the table though, which I guess is the reason for the leak. Delaney isn’t the best though, so let’s wait and see if it is true.

There was ITK that he wasn't too happy about us signing Dybala

As has been suggested, once you start to negotiate at a price with DL, it'll only go one way...in his favour.

£150M is a starting point, I hope! Plus 25-40M in add ons? Yes please!

The Charlie/Kane relationship can be easily summarized.

We all have the dipshit brother/sister/uncle in the family. If there is an oddjob, we think "hey, dipshit needs money and I need my house painted, its a win/win." Kane tried to do his brother a solid by letting him be his agent. Problem is Charlie showed up to his house and painted the house pink and left motorbike skidmarks in the driveway. What a dipshit.

Being back the old days, where we used to keep family members like that locked in a attic somewhere!

Might currently be the best place for Charlie. ?
