Real Madrid has a seriously aging squad and needs a major overhaul. They’re like Dad’s Army in defence and in midfield. This is a Madrid side who finished 10 pts behind a Barca side made up of Lewandowski plus a host of mediocre, old and freebie players.

I don’t get the pull of Madrid… they’ve got Vinicius, decent player but nowhere near Ronaldo level, soon to retire Modric and 33 year old Kroos. There’s the two decent young French midfielders but they’re both defensive minded. Where’s the flare and creativity?

I just don't see that £100M is transformative, whilst losing Kane is.

Most likely scenario is that he stays for a year and then leaves on a free, BUT the optimist in me thinks that if we are on the up under Ange, well, who knows. . .
My problem is that Kane leaving will still be transformative next year without the £100m.
I just think if he ain't signing this summer we need to bite the bullet, take the money and rebuild and to do otherwise is a bit amateurish.
If he wants to see how the new coach works out before deciding then he could at least sign a one year extension.

I'd love him to sign an extension but can't see that happening. I just feel that a year with Kane helping to get the new era off to a good start, is probably worth more (in the short term), than using that money for 2 decent players - which is probably what £100M gets you now.

Either way, if he has to leave, I'd be a lot happier with RM than with ManU (or Chelsea under Poch :hungover: :hungover: :hungover: ).

Jude Bellingham and a few very good young defenders along with a some very good fast young wide forwards with Kane and that's La liga sewn up. I know they haven't got Bellingham yet but it's apparently on the cards so that's a good start.

I consider myself an ambitious person but if the club I loved, where I was settled and happy and had just hired a new manager with a more attacking style, slapped down say £350k pw for four or five years I’d take it. As others have said there is more to life than winning a few trophies. He will break the PL record which personally I don’t think will be broken again. Kane scored 30 PL goals last season for spurs. I’d say that’s a bigger achievement than Haaland’s 36 for Man City - lots of hatricks when they were steamrolling teams. Kane’s was consistent. Man City’s dominance can’t continue forever and I think Haaland will be be off abroad in a few seasons.

I assume the club have put an offer like this to Kane. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he takes it. Perhaps he will play hardball to try to get the club to spend to improve the team. Laporte, Maddison and Raya and I think we are back in business. Dark horses with no Europe. Come on Harry!

I agree with you and really hope he stays. The unselfish part of me though thinks he deserves better and to be at a club with some ambition.

I want it on record that @Archibald&Crooks is a sick fuck for moving this thread here, and if he didn't personally move it, i am still blaming him.

in what is all likelihood the actual time he leaves us, let his thread take it's natural resting place in the madhouse that is Spurs Chat.

Get him to sign a 4 year contract, loan him to Madrid for 2 years for €60m.

Let him win his trophies and get his plaudits, and then come back for his PL goal scoring record.
Obviously not possible, but it would be nice😂

I don't want him to leave but 100m is a lot better than him getting to leave to the club of his choice next summer. Imagine if he joined Chelsea on a free? I don't think he'd do a Campbell but we would lose any control if we let him run out his contract.
He’s not going to leave England which means wherever he goes will be painful. We don’t know if anyone will pay 100m, but if he helps get us back in the CL next year that is worth that in revenue plus the value of getting the club back on an upward trajectory. And you never know, he might stay which is worth more than zero as an option

There’s every chance he leaves England, especially if it meant leaving this year to go to RM. 3 years later he can come back and secure the record but leaving now to go to madrid would be a massive opportunity and I don’t really know why anybody would turn it down at this stage of their career.

Perhaps because he has never shown any interest in going abroad? Maybe he doesn’t want to uproot the family? And if he comes back at 33 it’s a long way from certain he would break the record. Shearer only scored 39 goals from then onwards for instance, and in fact only Teddy has ever scored enough PL goals from 33 onwards to get Kane to the record and he played into his forties. I don’t know for sure whether Kane would want to go to Real, but a deal with Real requires 1) Kane to want to go and 2) them to bid enough for levy to accept, and both are far from certain. Overall I think it’s pretty unlikely

Yeah if he signs for Madrid it's gonna be on a 5 year deal and there's a chance they just don't let him leave.

If securing that record is his number one priority then no way does he gamble on getting 30+ goals when he's 35+. He'll get it then go abroad.

IMO it's most likely he stays in the Prem then goes to the US when he's like 38 or something as he's such a lover of American culture/sports. Feels like a much more natural fit for him than Spain to me.

Talksport do come up with some rubbish, shortly before Bale moved he was heavily involved in new kit promotion..

No he wasn't, he was involved in an NBCSports advertisement in NYC which made people think he was staying. However that wasn't Spurs' doing, it was NBC for using his image.

EDIT: Fair enough, I was wrong

I'm sorry, but not understanding the appeal of Real Madrid? You are going to one of the clubs where you have huge chances of winning a Ballon d'or. And the squad with some great young options like Valverde, Camavinga, Tchouameni, Militao, Rodrygo (is developing into a great RW) and Vinicius. Any of these youngsters would be our most promising player for years to come. This added to the news that Real just closed Jude.

Big fan of the mentality of selling Kane to fund a rebuild. As if Levy would actually spend that money on players 😂

What else is he going to do with it?

Everytime we have sold big players in the past we have used those funds to directly improve the team. Look at our history, the most recent being when we sold Bale (Elvis) and bought the 'Beatles'
