I think/hope Kane was just being polite when he told the likes of Good Morning America this. He has next to zero chance of becoming a starting NFL placekicker. Given that most NFL rosters only have one kicker on them why would a team pick up a 30-something wannabe with zero experience when they can draft guys in their early 20s who've been playing the position since high school or pick up an experienced free agent? Kane's ceiling in the NFL is probably a PR place on a pre-season squad.
For most football (as in soccer) players, i'd agree with you. I'm not as confident if that applies to Harry for two reasons but have to agree for one reason. First, the angles that he scores goals at and the precision of his strikes suggests that he has significantly better control of his foot position than just about every player when it comes to striking angle, etc. Field goals would be a piece of cake. Second, given his tenacity to learn and practice, i wouldn't put anything past him. On the other hand, there is his inability to take free kicks. 🤷‍♂️

Pretty sure Bale went on tour during the window we sold him.
But Bale didn’t have a year left on his contract.

It’s a big gamble to take. If the club are willing to sell him and you know he’s definitely not going to sign a new contract, 1 injury could cost you the chance of cashing in for £80m.

I agree, but the curveball here is ‘will Levy let his contract run down and let him walk away for nothing?’

In terms of what’s best for Kane, it’s absolutely to see his contract out. Newborn, young family - why would he move them to a different country? If he stays they remain comfortable, don’t have to learn a language and he can then decide what he wants to do, where he wants to go next summer without Levy being involved and bag himself a FAT signing on fee.

If I’m Kane then seeing out the contract is a no-brainer and I think it’s why he seems so relaxed about the situation.

As a fan, I don’t want him to leave but I don’t want to watch him play for a different PL club either. City is about the only one I could stomach. But, this summer is the only remaining chance to have a say in where he goes.

Its not hard to envision a different scenario that suits both parties equally as well.

The difference is what the fans would prefer for this season - which is the scenario you laid out.

It definitely more complicated than - "Here is a single solution that suits both parties"
Of course it is much more nuanced than the argument I presented, and yes there are other scenarios that can play out. I just laid out my vision and my own opinion trying to look at all sides.

I personally think that no club will pay the astronomical amount he is worth to our club and that has been the case for the last 8 years. He has too much sporting, marketing, fan base, and reputational value to be sold for any reasonable amount. And to add further…this may be a strong take…**assuming he hasn’t straight up told Levy and Ange that he is dying to leave and has handed in a transfer request** I think any money we got for him in a transfer would be like Judas betraying Jesus getting paid in blood money. He’s one of our own and selling him just looks and feels unpalatable.

If Harry Kane ever leaves Spurs, leaving on a free to any non-rival is the best parting of ways for the player and the club.

Yea but issues there as you say is if he runs his contract down he can go to
City, Utd, Chelscum etc and nothing we can do about it, whereas right
now we can influence things for him to move to Bayern a non PL side and get £100mil back in the process.

It’s not a simple situation at all.
You’re right we can influence now, we can offer him a deal that secures his future what ever happens, career ending injury or not, we could push him to move to Bayern, but he cant be made too leave if he doesnt want. He can stay one more year score another 30 goals and not care what external influences push him to do. Another 30 goals. Any club in the world would buy him, he’s that good. He chooses his prices then.. CIty, Madrid, who ever. Spurs fans i believe City are acceptable and abroad Also. If Kane is smart he waits…and could still take a spurs deal if signs are good and secures his future.

Munich i think unlikely. He will believe he can hit 30 goals this season….. 15 away from Shearer. 1 or two years even at Madrid and back to the Premi…. He holds all the cards, he deserves to hold the cards, he is professional, he was loyal. I wish him the best as long as not Chelsea and Arsenal, I dream he stays because Ange exceeds expectations….That’s not happened in my life time… I remember white hart lane and Alan Sugar. I am grateful where we are now

So much feeling here in this thread for our lad, H Kane esq. Who knows what will happen, but it’s fair to say that Spurs fans love him and he means the world to us. Not matter what happens, really hope we can win a pot with him this year. Do it, Big Ange 🙏🏻

Until we are being seriously linked with other strikers I don’t see him leaving as being all that close.

Personal opinion but he doesn't have the power needed to be an NFL kicker... Give Huddlestone a go, he'd be clearing field goals from his own 10yrd line

He just needs someone else to nudge the pigskin to the side before he takes the kick and he'll be golden.

Absolutely, I will cry if and when a) he lifts a trophy as our captain and b) signs a new contract and stays

Levy and BM aren’t having hash browns and eggs for a laugh / old times sake.
Of Course not. BM are there to try and persuade him to sell. You don't keep on good terms with your peers at other companies by turning business meetings down, though. You can have the meeting, listen to what they have to say, then decide based off of H's decision on a new contract, and everyone stays amicable.

All sounds very friendly but I don't think that sort of stuff is in Levy's playbook.

When will we know if who is on the plane to Oz? If Harry goes, it seems unlikely a deal is imminent. But I certainly don’t rule it out. Could be Levy is keeping that door open, but doesn’t want to embark on this money spinning tour without their biggest brand asset.
