And so the PR schedule continues indeed. Just under two weeks ago I projected the PR shift to begin to throw shade at Kane and here we are. Kane, of course, is under no obligation to extend, but the PR implication will become increasingly clear that his decision not to extend will be described as anti-Spurs.

I have maintained for weeks that this is all a PR script with the conclusion likely known by key parties (i.e., he will be sold before the end of the window).

First Ange says he wants it sorted quickly, then the press is briefed that Uncle Joe demands he be sold rather than allowed to go on a free. Both of these contribute to a perception that the decision was out of Levy’s hands and that he is not responsible for losing one of the top players in the club’s history.

And so the groundwork is laid for the deal to be announced without it coming as a surprise, and with Levy insulated somewhat from potential blowback.
