That's some list. And some big names missing! Lineker, Klinsmann, Clive Allen.

Jimmy had 27 in 1968-69 rather than the 37 in that official site piece - but was still top scorer in Division One for the sixth time. He was a genius who lit up my childhood.

Absolutely, Greavesie's record is the one to aim for. I think Harry could actually get close. Nowhere near the same natural skill level as Greaves, but his all round game is so good. What amazes me is to see that Mark Falco nearly did it in the 80s. He really was a mediocre player. Just shows what playing in front of Hoddle and Ardiles does for your goal-scoring stats.

The other thing I couldn't quite believe: neither Teddy Sheringham nor Michael Owen ever managed this. In fact Owen never got 20 in a single season. Who'd have thought it, eh?

I actually thought Falco was a decent player and a good finisher.

Anyway agree the Greaves stats are amazing. Although seen clips of him I don't think I can appreciate how good he must have been.

If Harry does half as well then he will be a legend for club and country. We are very lucky.

I suppose he was a fairly decent finisher. Somehow though he never quite looked the part for me. Big disappointment after Archibald and Crooks.

To get Martin Peters iirc.

Not only that; he was himself very fond of WH and pally with Moore. At the time, Joe Mercer begged him to join Shitty, and lamented that he was unsuccessful as Greavesie scored a brace against Shitty in his debut for WH.
