I don't rate him in a midfield two, but to say he is championship level is over the top.

In a three man midfield with the right players around him he can do well.

I'll honestly be surprised if an EPL team comes in for WInks. For me, he's a Championship-level midfielder. Perhaps a relegation-fodder team will pick him up for his homegrown status and to make the tea.
I disagree, he needs a fresh start, somewhere like southampton, Fulham maybe a Bournemouth loan and he’ll get back to Almost the level he was

One or two games aside, that wasn't a great level, IMHO. Very limited player. He has no outstanding qualities. But each to their own :)

Good players shouldn't need to be bolstered so much to perform. Look at any of our current crop of midfielders; all capable of performing at a decent EPL level in a two-man midfield. If he can't do it without 'the right players around him' then, IMHO, he's not up to it, as we've seen many, many times. It will be no different at any other club. Dele didn't magically return to his old ways after a fresh start and I'm very confident Winks won't either.

Agree that he needs to be carried in a team. He offers little attacking threat and not that great defensively so if he has one person either side of him he can continue with the sideways passes.

I think Winks can play and be a part of epl squads like ie Leicester City West Ham Aston Villa Leeds Everton level . I'm surprised clubs haven't come in for him as yet. He could also play in Spain and do very well.
Winks feels like some sort of PL move in the last week/days of the window, it feels like PL clubs think our price is too high (even though I rather suspect it's probably quite fair) it also has a feel not too dissimilar of Danny Rose on AON asking if Milan had been in touch, maybe Winks thinks certain clubs should be clamouring for him when reality is he needs to adjust his sights, even if it's drop lower than you thought have a great season and hope to get picked up by a "bigger fish" in a year or two.
The problem I suspect is he's harbouring hopes of Southgate picking him so perhaps he wants assurances he'll be starting most games, perhaps a self-awareness issue not grasping quite how far down those rungs he now is.

Genuine question...has he made any pre-season or matchday squad lists...dare I ask, appeared for us this season yet?

Surely we’ve had ITK that we had interest for Winks already, just not quite at our valuation? Not quite sure why the wailing and gnashing of teeth has started up today.

Who knows; maybe there are whisperings of a certain former manager being lined up for somewhere in the EPL at the first sign of trouble and he has his eyes on going to that club and it's that club or nothing at the moment.

It did seem that Everton was a goer for a good number of weeks until those stories of Levy and Kenwright falling out emerged, it didn't prevent the Richalison deal but maybe it did lob a screwdriver in any Winks deal, Levy maybe feels he got the better end of that one so come the end of the window maybe Kenwright needs to feel he's "won" on the Winks deal?

I've no evidence for any of this just conjecture and onions.

I tend to agree, I think when you see what other less proven players have moved for the numbers I've seen touted for Winks don't seem bonkers and actually very unlike how we'd have valued him a couple of windows ago.
Wasn't there a player who's gone from Villa's academy with something like one premier league game to his name for a pretty silly fee?

I think if we get an offer close to 15m we should take it. It is said the club are looking for 20-25m. There’s no way anyone is offering that.

Happy to see him eventually go, I look around and don’t think he is far off the quality of say McTominay or Ward-Prowses if not for his set piece play. He can do a good job in the mid to lower half of the EPL

McTominay is a very poor player and JWP is a bit overrated since he started scoring every other free kick but they can both press and put in tackles… one of the key components of a CM. Winks simply can’t/won’t/doesn’t.

Please no loans for these deadwood as much as possible. If we want Conte long term, the likes of Winks, Lo Celso and Tanguy have to leave permanently in the best scenario. Conte has no plans for them at all, now or in the future.

And if we can't get anybody to buy them?
