Yesterday was a fabulous day for football, one that those onlookers whose pulses are quickened by vibrant attacking should mark in their diaries and celebrate every year.

Spurs, the team with the more constructive intentions, went home rewarded with the ultimate in footballing 'bling', winners' medals dangling around their necks.

The players who finished with champagne poured over their sweat-stained features were entertainers like Jermaine Jenas, Aaron Lennon, Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov. Good.

Here was football in keeping with the Tottenham tradition, that Bill Nicholson would have approved of, that Glenn Hoddle, Ossie Ardiles and Danny Blanchflower, would recognise.

Until the final passage of play, when even the back-tracking Berbatov proved you can be famous defensively for 15 minutes, Spurs brimmed with attacking desire.

Great article. Everyone seems to recognise Grant's errors with Anelka & Lampard except Grant himself. Did not know about the Chel$ki players having a dig at the ref afterwards. Typical - Terry leads by bad example in that respect.

Great article.

Amused by this response:

''Woodgate winner signals Spurs' new dawn''

More like another FALSE dawn - they won this in 99 and have been mediocre ever since!!

Wise up it will be another 9 years before they won another trophy and even then it will be the league cup (again!)

I always read the Telegraph at lunch in our staff canteen. Henry Winter has been writing some very positive stuff about us recently; unlike some tabloids that always like to slag us off.

all the top pundits and the least tabloid of the papers love Ledley King don't they?!? rightly so. wonderful performance especially considering he's spent the last 3 weeks laid on a cold table in the morge :)

Great article, I loved this line

"The chants emanating from the Spurs faithful were almost visceral in their intensity. One club, one hunger"

Good to see that players and fans alike are getting the credit they deserve for yesterday, I thought the Spurs fans were amazing, we out-sung the Chelsea lot who had to resort to singing how much they hated us to get everyone in their end singing.
