I, like a lot of you, are really quite worried about what's happening at the moment.
It is not about finishing above Arsenal, or our expectations being unreasonable. For me it is the performance and attitudes around the club that stink. I think Tim's character is unfairly criticised at times, I was thinking about the conversation he must have had when the job - even in the interim - was offered. How could he not take it? Someone who wants to manage gets this opportunity, they would be mad not to take it.
We can only continue to look forward though, and carve out some positivity from what has so far been a very difficult season. Yes we are 5th, yes we are still in the Europe League with still a decent chance of winning it, but the performances and the way our club is being talked about is very hard to take.
So, what is your 5 point plan in getting the positivity back in?
1) A settled lineup.
Chopping and changing every two weeks it detrimental to form. We need to recognise our best team and players, to be able to properly support and appreciate them.
2) Creativity in the team not on the bench.
Eriksen, more so than anyone, needs to play regularly.
3) Back the big money signings to produce.
Not happening at the moment for one reason or the other, get Soldado and Lamela back in the team ASAP. Might be a bit controversial because a price tag shouldn't mean you should play - but in the wider sense we've spunked money on these two; it is for the good of the club to get them firing. They can't do that from the bench. Soldado in particular needs to take some responsibility for his awful form, but its becoming a vicious circle.
4) Embrace the competition we still have an opportunity to win.
Winning, or even getting to the final/semis of the Europa would inject some excitement around the place.
5) Accept the state of flux we are in.
Our goal of CL football looks all but finished, collectively we need to look at the rest of this season as a write-off league wise. Get our heads around our lowered expectations and we might just start to enjoy it. I when we win a match relatively comfortably, and I'm not ecstatic with excitement as I expected a win.
