Former England striker Ian Wright is flying home from the World Cup in Brazil after his wife and children were threatened at knifepoint by burglars.

Four men armed with knives forced their way into his north-west London home and held his wife and children before making off with personal possessions.
The 50-year-old former Arsenal star, who has been working for ITV in Brazil, tweeted: "You won't get away with it."

The Metropolitan Police said it was investigating an aggravated burglary.
Steve Kutner, Wright's agent, said: "It was a terrifying ordeal. They marched Ian's wife from room to room."

A spokeswoman for Ian Wright said the football pundit was "really upset and angry" and was flying back following Wednesday night's robbery.

She said: "Nancy [his wife] is really shaken up. Their kids are so young that hopefully they aren't going to read into it too much.

"They are all physically OK - Nancy and the kids."

Wright's neighbours expressed their shock at the robbery.

Next-door neighbour Marianne Collinge said: "I suppose they could be a bit of a target because they do have beautiful cars.

"But they are very unpretentious people. They are one of us and I'm terribly sorry for them, it's awful."

Another neighbour, Chris Martin, said: "We were watching the Spain game when the police arrived last night and that's all we know about it.

"Ian is a neighbour and a decent family man. He's been living here several years and everyone around here respects his privacy."

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "We are investigating an aggravated burglary at an address in north-west London after we were called at 9.20pm last night.

"Personal possessions were stolen.

"The suspects are described as four black men aged between 18 and 25, with London accents, wearing dark clothing and hoodies obscuring their faces."

For her, she's not a fan of walking... as the song goes.

Seriously though, terrifying and something you wouldn't wish on anyone. Hopefully the culprits will be found and justice served.

It's not the wife from the song. He's moved on. Scary stuff, especially as I live on the next road and this house was done last year. Luckily no-one was in. Scumbags.

Being burgled is horrible. We were robbed twice growing up and its always scary if you're a kid, and violating if you're an adult.

Jesus... There was all that Wimbledon burglar stuff a month or two back, and now this. If ever there was an advert for making sure you keep your home safe...

Probably waited until Wright went over to Brazil before targeting the house so they'd only have a mother and children to get past, the cowards. Hope the culprits are caught and dealt with as soon as possible.

He'll sleep ok tonight. Got a police car parked at the end of the road.

Can't remember that happening when this house was robbed last year. Hmm.

I'm not Wrighty's biggest fan but this sort of thing is discusting, you really have to be a fucking lowlife to break into someones home and threaten their children, absolute scum.

You were burgled last year? Sorry to hear that mate. :-(

And you live near Ian Wright?? Hope you walk past his gaff in your Spurs shirt. ;-)

Thing I found odd is looking at his house he has old windows so doesn't look very secure (not sure if because buildings are listed and not allowed to replace windows?).

Given everyone knows he was at World Cup and a lot of people are going to notice he lives there I would have thought his house would be a bit more secure as lot of scummers out there - alarmed, double glazed with strongest available locks etc.
