Is he one of our own?

Apologies if this is elsewhere, but saw this today and have to wonder. Personally I think the "one of our own" chant is embarrassing. Of course he's come out and said he's Spurs, he couldn't exactly say he's one of them. Anyone shed any light on this, I'm getting a lot of stick and nothing to give back, I'm lost for words

he's one of our own to the extent he came through our academy - and now declares himself a spurs fan.

do we really care that when he was 10 he wore and Arsenal shirt? not really.

I'm sure there is a picture of Wilshire wearing a West Ham shirt that regularly does the rounds.
Michael Owen in an Everton shirt..

mean's nothing. All that counts now is that he is a Spurs player.. appears to love playing for the club, loves playing with his team mates he came through the academy with - and is scoring a bucket load of goals for Spurs. .. oh.. and scored two against the scum..

Who cares? He scores goals for us, came thru our Academy, he is one of our own.

much like Jack Wilshere is one of their own, yet a West Ham Fan.

Also look at the amount of Liverpool players who grew up supporting Everton, once they play for pool and win they soon become fans of them.

I thought this thread was going to be about Townsend.
And I'm not sure of the answer either.

Having read the articles that came out around that time.

He was wearing the arsenal shirt as that was the year he was in their academy and the senior team had just won the title. Can't blame someone for wearing the free kit they from the academy where they're trying to turn pro. A year later the kid was wearing our kit.

And if you have any questions over whether he is one of our own, look at his celebration when he scored the 2nd against arsenal at the lane. That should clear up any question of where his loyalties lie.

Nothing like Wilshere.....he supported West Ham....Harry never supported the scum, so no comparison there...

Exactly. No doubt the academy urged all the kids to get out and celebrate the title win. Can't blame a kid for doing what he was asked and going out for a fun day with his mates.

Does Kane's goals just get removed from our Premier League total, or does the FA also then add them to Arsenal's statistics?

When I was a kid I played for a team that got to the county cup and the East Anglia cup semi finals.

An Arsenal coach joined us for 6 weeks to help the team and possibly scout future talent. Sadly I wasn't one of them. If I was would I have hesitated to wear and Arsenal shirt and possibly do something like dye my hair red? Of course not.

He was a kid wanting a football career and a Prem team offered him a place to train with them. He was never going to say no.
