The Austrian international centre-back made 21 appearances in his debut season at White Hart Lane.

Still think he was unlucky to be dropped when Jan returned from injury.

The title makes him sound like he's really getting off about not conceding.

Calm down Kevin, mate.

Thought he was outstanding when he came into the side and played well enough to keep his spot ahead of Jan.

We defended better with Wimmer. Shouldn't have been dropped IMO.

Your right we did play well when Verts was out but Kevin is one for the future and he will get games next season maybe a few in the league but 100% in the cups.

Really played well and exceeded my expectations. A bargain buy with a great future ahead of him. Well done you are a credit to the club.

He's a better defender than the overrated Vertonghen.

Should not had been dropped.

I like Verts - But I was hugely impressed with Wimmer. For my money Verts gets turned too easily and is less commanding in the box for set pieces (Which cost us a few goals at the end of the season). A better passer of the ball than Wimmer - but defensively I'd like to see Wimmer ahead of him. We shouldn't (MoPo) put so much emphasis on "Well they are International club mates (Toby & Verts) and therefore have a better understanding argument.

Austria conceded against Malta this week. Shocking own goal. Not sure if Kev was playing.

Coming out of defence with the ball , Jan every time . Defending a corner vs a rough team..Kevin . Blocking a shot Kevin .

I agree with that, but Vertonghen does seem to be a leader and with a team with so much inexperience in it, we do need experienced talkers.

Don't want to sound like I'm bashing Vertonghen but I didn't see much evidence of leadership at the end of the season.

He's no Roy Keane, but he's the best we've got. Outfield wise our experienced players are Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Dembele and neither of the other two are showing leadership qualities at the moment.

I think Vertonghen was Capt at Ajax when he played alongside Alderweireld.

He did nothing wrong when he came in but Vertonghen is still one of the most, if not the most, senior players in the team. Up until he got injured we had the best defensive record in the league and when I saw he was out for a few weeks I feared the floodgates would open. Credit to Wimmer in his first season that we just kept going as we were before the injury. We have a great first eleven but injuries to certain players, such as Dembele and Alli at the end of last season show we don't yet have the strength in depth to win the league. Wimmer is the exception to this rule.
