Saka getting racially abused on social media. I fucking hate how the world is right now.

The three players who missed. Sancho, Rashford and Saka. I imagine their accounts are getting spammed by the knuckledragges rights now. Poor bastards.

Rashford pen stank, just fucking hit it! Sancho and Saka, I was screwing at the time as they were both scared which is whey you hit it side foot like that but why were they taking a pen in the first 5? Where was Sterling? I'd rather see Shaw hit a pen than Saka, he's just a kid. Doesn't Grealish take pens? WTF Southgate.

Wrong team, wrong tactics, certainly not a lot going for the Manager 2night.
Was Foden injured because if not, not bringing him on was criminal, & Henderson instead of Bellingham was another massive mistake.

Indeed. Has he ever done that run up before?

Truly idiotic to try that in a Euro final.
Both players brought on for the penalty shootout missed because they made the classic mistake of either being too cocky or too indecisive. You can’t hesitate in your run up. You have to decide before hand where you’re going to hit, not change your mind and just hit it as hard as you can and try to keep it low. If you do that even if the GK guesses right most times you’ll beat him.

“new member” ?

“Absolute member”.

Nope, huge spurs fan since 2010, and been lurking on here since 2015. I just thought this was the general Euro 2020 thread, not one specific about the national side. My bad that i posted that in one for the english national team, sorry (But i really mean it haha)

That’s fine, got no problem with your thoughts however there is no way in a million years I would let a 19 year old who has never taken a senior penalty in his life, take a penalty over me if I had 67 caps for my country.

Also, not sure it’s hyperbole to say he was bang average tonight to be fair. I think that’s a fair assessment of his game in general.
More the saying he should be ashamed of himself part for me.

I think the players should be really proud of themselves.

I don't think Saka should've been at the tournament full stop. I feel bad singling him out but international football is an older man's game, he needs a run in the U21s. Same applies to Bellingham.

Also England - you've got to work out a way of getting Sancho in to the team. Really weird having him sat on the bench the whole time.

I feel sorry for you guys over there, you're going to have to wake up tomorrow morning and live all through this again in the press and tv. Here, nobody is any the wiser or cares about it if they did know about it. Silver linings and all that.

Yeah. Nobody should be blaming Saka here. Southgate mismanaged the game. Never should have sat back all game. Terrible idea to bring Sancho and Rashford on cold to take pens. And should have had 5 senior players before Saka. (Saka already looked short of confidence during the game. No reason to put him in that situation.)

Lets be honest, with the attacking talent England had, they should have put fear into the opposition. Kane world class striker, Sancho a guy who puts fear in defenders with his pace and directness, Grealish with an eye for a pass, Sterling who’s unpredictably can keep defenders scared. That’s more than enough to muster shots agains an aging defence. Philips and Rice were too negative. Mount nonexistent. So why not move Mount in the middle and the expense of Rice or Philips. Grealish behind Kane with Sancho would have scared that Italian defence.
Saka had a mare of a game, worse than when Grealish got hauled off the last game.
Why wait until Italy equalised to make a change? The writing was in the wall when Mancini brought on 3 attackers, but Southgate didn’t react. When he did he brings in Saka and Henderson?
Southgate way too cautious and they paid for that. The gulf between Mancini and Southgate was shown up in this game. If Mancini was manager of England, they would have won within 90mins. Gareth’s game management was one of dithering and choosing favourites when the urgency was needed to capitalise when England were on top, then to adjust when Italy dominated. Not to hope to keep it 1-0 until 90mins.
