It's the sum of the parts.

As Spurs fans we need to realise the Club does not have the funds to compete for the best players.

For us it has to be the sum of the parts.

Ngie for example is not the answer to our all our needs.

He is a player who in combination with others we have or may still buy can help make us competitive.

Berahino if bought is not the sole answer either but with Kane, Chadli, Ngie etc etc may form a competitive unit.

You're bang on the money mate. We do need to add elements to the side to make it more balanced. I think there's a lot of youth to come through, and if we've been able to bring Kane, Mason, Rose and Bentaleb through, and if the rumours and opinions about the lads yet to come work out, we may be in a great position at the end of the season.

It only takes one or two lads breaking through to make a big difference. How much would it cost to sign the 4 names above if we were a club buying them in their current state? £100m? If we can turn out a couple a year, we will have a great side in a couple f years, as long as Levy can keep Madrid from signing them, but if they are local lads, they are more likely to kiss the badge, mean it, and stay.

Coys!

Well said and I hope to see the best of Eriksen when he has a few players in front of him running with serious pace and the ability to finish. N'Jie can't be any worse than someone like Walcott can he? Players like that can be a real handfull so I'm looking forward to seeing what they can all do together.

City, Chelscum etc can just go out and buy the best for all positions.

We are not in that league yet. We will be.

It's pretty much what we did to win the Double.

Tommy Harmer was a good player but we bought John White who was better. John Ryden was a good player but we bought the best in Dave Mackay. John Hollowbread was a good keeper but we bought Bill Brown who was better still and an international.

To cap it all we later spent a then fortune on Jimmy Greaves even though we had done the Double and scored 115 goals I think it was.

Indeed the Greaves purchase sum would be the equivalent to buying Ronaldo, Messi or Bale today.

So when Levy has got the stadium and the American money we will be back in business. It's takes a long time to gain traction. We've done very well these past few years. Very well indeed.

this is precisely what's so damned frustrating. we constantly put out a team significantly less than the sum of our parts because we're always married to some fooking system that we don't have the players for. we make very good players look pedestrian with a staggering consistency. it's fooking maddening.

Agree with the OP

However, that's why we need a stable management structure, with a head-coach who is around for more than 18 months!

Agreed and also with such a young squad it really will take time mabye another season at least, probably 2-3 to really see them gel and at their peak. I just hope Potch is the right guy.
