I know he divides a lot of people on here, but I honestly don't understand why we loaned him out to Villa.

Our central midfield now consists of Sandro, Hudd, Parker, Modric and Livermore.

- Sandro is recovering from an injury that could have been very serious and only has half a season of PL football under his belt;

- Hudd doesn't look quite right and has started the season in appalling form;

- Parker is a very good player but he's 30 and therefore might take a while to recover from any injuries he might pick up;

- Modric's 'head isn't right' apparently. There's no guarantee that that will change. And, for some, his best position isn't in central midfield;

- Livermore doesn't look great IMO. He's had a couple of decent games but all youngsters tend to look good at first as they're a breath of fresh air and can run on adrenaline for a while.

Apparently we have one free space in the senior squad so I don't understand why we let him go on a season long loan. A sale I could understand, but as far as a loan goes, what's in it for us?

Would people on here honestly trust Livermore in a big game over Jenas?

And what if Modric goes in January?

What if Hudd doesn't sort his faltering form out (he hasn't played well for a long time)?

Despite failing to fulfil his potential he's been a loyal servant to Spurs and seems to really like the club so I can only imagine he's had a falling out with Harry over something.

Thoughts?

Think of it this way, would you be that confident Jenas could do a better job than Livermore in a given game?

If the answer is 'not that confident' then it would be a mistake to hold onto him. If this loan is a precursor to a proper transfer, it's an opportunity to bring someone new in who may have a more positive effect.

Jenas is lazy had so much potential but wasted it. I think he has been stuck on 19 England caps since 2006 say all about the man.

He is anything but lazy.

Look up his stats from when he was a regular and you will see that he covered more ground than pretty much all our other players.

I dont mind Jenas going, him for Parker is a fair swap and to be fair to the guy he needed a change of scenery to reignite his career.

Would have kept Sgt. Wilson though, I feel he is the bigger loss.

That's right when he was a regular. However for the last 3 season he aint done much. Just happy to take wages and sit back. He is only 28 should of been pushing himself more in the prime of his career.

I'd rather have Wilson than Jenas. Livermore I'm not sure on, undoubtedly he will be more consistent (be hard not to) but I don't think he has quite the quality Jenas can show.

But we all know what JJ's problem is. For every good game he has there are 3,4 or 5 where does absolutely nothing. He's too content with that, we can't be. I don't think he has progressed since he first arrived, probably from when he first joined Newcastle.

If you can get him playing consistently to a level near his best he would be in every England squad. But no one has managed to do that, and its not like he's an up and coming kid anymore.

I like what I have seen of Livermore looks promising hopefully this season will grow in to a excellent player he's got the potential.

Because he's on wedge and not doing anything for it.

Because he's a poor player.

Him leaving - the same with Crouch and Wilson - is like a new signing in itself. It forces Redknapp to do something different rather than rely on the same failing plan b's. Crouch can't come on = new signing. Wilson can't start = new signing. No more random Bentley appearances = new signing. He's not tempted to play players that are no good for us.

I'd rather Jake than JJ. I'd rather play someone out of position than JJ. I'd rather play another youngster than JJ.

And for JJ, replace his name with any that left.

Sorry, but I just don't think your opinion of JJ is born out by the facts.

A maddeningly inconsistent player - capable of dominating some of the finest midfields in the country on his day (see the 5-1 against the Goons) yet also guilty of watching games passing him by on too many occassions - he certainly isn't "poor" by any standards.

If Livermore becomes an established premier league player for a non-relagation fodder club I will donate £100 to Spurscommunity.

For that reason, I think we were foolish to let him go (though if we'd kept Wilson I would have been fine with it).

Glad he is gone. Even when he was a regular starter he only played well maybe 1 in 4 games.

In addition to that you have the whole negative crowd thing. If you look at who has gone they are the "groan" players.

Wilson does one bad pass "GROAN"
Crouch mis-controls (or gives away free kick) - GROAN
Jenas does anything - GROAN
Bentley crosses the ball but our forwards don't attack it - GROAN

Perhaps Levy and Redknapp are onto something? Perhaps they want a possitive support?

Good point RM, and one I hadn't thought of.

Bentley and Jenas could do no right for most of our fans so I guess in that sense it's best if they aren't in the sqaud. I still think both of them could have played some sort of useful role for us if managed properly though.

Should definitely have kept him, he's a better CM than Hudd and unquestionably so in a 2.

The one thing he shouldn't be accused of is being a lazy player, he's also been the only central midfield player on our books for quite a while who's had the energy and the will to get beyond the forwards.

I thought Jenas would've done alright v Man City. Would've kept shape a bit better anyway.

That's true actually. Saying that give it a few of weeks I'm sure the crowd would have picked a couple more.

Jenas is a good athlete, but he hasn't really got much of a football brain and he lacks character on the pitch, his biggest problem imo. It can't of been easy playing with the crowd on you're back though.
