I agree with everything being said but he does seem to be a decent/above average finisher in the box. Yes he doesn't score great goals, but he still gets them (I know about the pens).
Not that young? He's 23! I'd say that was pretty young!Much rather Vlahovic, who's the better player, or Orban, who's got the far higher ceiling. David would be a weird in between where it's a lot of money for a player who's not that young and who doesn't necessarily even walk into our starting XI.
If so, I'm outPlus he has an underlying injury issue.
David is certainly more of an established player there is no doubt, but personally I’d rather take a risk on Orban or Marcos Leonardo. David will cost around €70 mil because that is how important he is to Lille but for me I think that outlay for him would be a mistake. I don’t think he is on the same level Osimhen was when Napoli bought him for example. Whilst Orban would certainly be the greater risk I think David will still be risky and that’s not what you want if you are going to spend €70 mil.
For clarity I was on about Dusan Vlahovic. If so, I'm out
Is he available? Not sure Juve want to sell him.he's clearly held in high regard but not sure this represents the best value for money, maybe if we didn't already have richy.
I get the fact we're allegedly working on number 1 striker and number 3 winger but you would have expected vlahovic to be number 1 available striker surely? unless of course if we know flat out he isn't available.
Can we compare them both at Gent as that will give the most accurate picture surely?View attachment 130992
Similar strikers but Orban I believe has the higher ceiling and perhaps the most important aspect for this club, the cheaper outlay.
Keep in mind how bloated David’s stats are by pens tho. 11 of his goals were pens last season. Having watched both in France Osimhen looked significantly better in comparison.Moving the reply over to this thread.
Here is Osimhen's season at Lille before moving to Napoli:

Here is David's 22/23 season at Lille:

If anything David is further advanced than Osimhen was when he left Lille. That being said Osimhen was younger when he left Lille, so it's not exactly comparable.
Ah ok, thanksFor clarity I was on about Dusan Vlahovic.
I keep seeing this. But what is it that makes you think he has the higher ceiling? Stats are broadly comparable, and David plays at a higher standard of football.View attachment 130992

Dare I say it, but Orban seems to be the hipsters choice.I think if we're honest with ourselves, this whole idea that we should go for Orban over David is nothing more than group think as maybe a few people have watched both extensively but I doubt the rest of us have seen more than a couple of games of one of them, letalone either. It's just the current vibe that Orban is the guy.
I say this as I'm desperate for us to go for Orban and I've never seen the guy play and you've all made David sound like he's gonna flop like Lacazette Must admit, it was the person who linked the stats of strikers from the Belgian league that got me excited, plus the french league has been notoriously hit and miss, mostly miss.
SC's favourite person George Bannister has said this is a "non-story"
