One must conclude that this is, in part, an opening shot in the campaign to secure a second year's loan or a transfer. If Bale supports it, then it might happen. So there will be a charm offensive in the press and probably on the training ground to make Gareth feel that this is home.

It's also probably true. Unlike 2 months ago, Bale fully deserves his place in any starting lineup when he is able to play.
