Tottenham may no longer have to pay the huge compensation fee owed to Jose Mourinho after their former head coach was appointed as Roma boss. The Italian club announced Mourinho as their new boss on Tuesday, just over a fortnight after the Portuguese was axed by the north Londoners.

Their supporters and directors are even more impatient than we are. They are desperate to win their league after 20 years so it seems a strange move for him at this stage in his life. Another one that looks like ending in tears for him.

Good luck to him. I did warm to him a bit with us and I think he actually deserved to see out the season. I know I am in the minority but I don't care!
You can guarantee he will win something with them so we will be the only club he has managed where he has not won a trophy. I still think we would have won the league cup if he had stayed.

I can't see how he wins anything with that Roma team. His descent from being an elite-level manager will surely continue. Really wonder if he's just in it for the money now. Having said that I don't know what other option he has.

By the way, I disagree that the Roma team have no chance of winning anything. They have suffered horrendously with injuries this season to key players.
They have not done well but have some very good experienced players, many of which have played under Mourinho already.

The strength of the Italian league with Juve not being what they were, Inter being financially crippled and Napoli having fallen out of contention has really fallen in this last year. Inter really struggled in the UCL and finished bottom of the group behind Shaktar and Borussia M.

I suspect that league could be dominated by a defensive minded counter attacking team the same way Allegri did with Juve.

To pack it in and enjoy his former glory. It takes a man to realise when it's over.

I dont think he's just in it for the money. He was upset and talked about professional pride after we were knocked out the Europa cup.

A national team coach, he might be able to get otherwise no hopers to qualify for tournaments without being expected to reach the knockout stages.

Jose is a good manager but his not a spurs manager, we have an ethos and a way we like to conduct ourselves which i don't think suits Jose.

By the sounds of it we won’t be saving much. Looks like Roma have a bargain, they pay him £5 million and Levy has to stump up the balance to what we were paying him??.
I feel Levy was star struck when he signed him as our manager ??
