I appreciate the parking the bus tactics against the traditional top sides but a team with title winning ambitions shouldnt be doing it against a mid table side with 60 minutes to go.

The worry is, at some point, because the focus is so heavy on not conceding, we will end up struggling up top.

The club didnt fulfill its potential under redknapp or poch sides because the managers were too one dimensional. I really really hope, this isnt the case here.

Oh! Just blame Mourinho for sitting off second half. There is no way I can see him being happy with second half, conceding so much possession, loosing balls in transition. Worst still, giving away so many needless dead ball situations.
Yeah it's not like we play every game like this.
O actually we do.
Great in the big games and as much I don't particularly enjoy it I understand it.
We know we can do better because when they equalised we started to play.
Mourhino actually admitted against arse second half we took our foot of the gas.
This one's on mourhino but he's earned my grudging respect.

Their keeper had a worldie. Unless Mourinho gave him a pep talk before the game we can’t pin this one on him. All credit to Palace for staying in the game.

It looked like he waiting for them to score before he did anything

Tbh I don't think he should have taken off ndombele, he should have let him know to step his game up

I know I'm in the minority, especially so soon after the disappointing result, but I don't think there was anything wrong with the game plan. The problem was the execution of the game plan in the second half. Far too many poor, rushed passes, particularly by Dier and Bergwijn, nobody trying to calm the game down and keep control for a couple of minutes so we kept inviting pressure in dangerous positions and looking panicky in defence.

Even so, their keeper made 3 genuine world class saves. So the game plan still had us creating enough chances to win the game, I blame it more on the players losing their calmness once Palace started to gain some momentum.

So it’s nothing wrong dominating the game, show you’re clearly the better side, go 1-0 up and then instead of keep going just sit back and invite pressure?

My comments are clear! Second half, I cannot accept those were his instructions
I understand your points and of course you are correct in rationale and conclusion. However, even if that is the case, I do feel that today's on Mourinho.
I think he should have collected enough experience from Newcastle (and West Ham) to deal with a match scenario like today.
I think he should have known enough to see that if his players show 1) that they can excel on the front foot attacking vs. a certain opponent and 2) start to lose their concentration whilst soaking up the pressure, and when an opponent has shown to be very shaky when attacked, and when there's only one goal difference, that's when thinking on his fit and adapting last minute should have been within Mourinho's ability.
I've genuinely enjoyed the footie over the last weeks and I do support Mourinho, maybe more than many others. But I feel he failed today. I've pointed out before, that the only thing I'd like to see differently, is that when the lead is only 1-0, switch it up by instructing the team to perform their attacking play more often throughout the match. 2-0 up and no hunger for more goals, like vs. Arsenal? That's fine by me. 1-0? You've got to show that desire to kill the game. Not all the time, but on and off until the job is complete. I feel that Mourinho had all the past knowledge to lead this match through to a win. I think this one should have been avoided with coaching from the sideline.

Listen to his interview on SSN! Was not his instructions how we played second half

He can say that but he sat there and watched Crystal Palace gain a foothold in the game and did not make any significant changes. Only after they equalized did he feel the need to try and win the game. If it had stayed 1-0, he would've been praising the team.

OK, fine. True. BUT - once that is evident to the coaching staff, they should have made that call to switch approach to attack, because our players and their players had already showed that that yielded the balance between the teams in our favour.

Either that or double down and bring Davies on. Sticking was a peculiar approach as we could all see it coming.

This time around, you're right. This game called for a different setup. He was banking on the fact that we've kept better attacking sides at bay (Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal) and that we could do the same score one goal and sit back. It backfired and now other teams have caught on to how to make it difficult for us. Now Jose has to work out a different approach for the Crystal Palace's of the league.

Can we do some shared manager thing;

- Mourinho to take charge and park the bus against the top teams.
- Anyone else to come and facilitate our world class players in a an effective 90 minutes of controlled attacking football against the ‘lesser’ teams.

we must have known that anyway.

Mourinho has struggled against Palace, Brighton, Burnley, Everton, West Brom, Antwerp, Plovdiv this season.

Always annoys me when people try to say you can blame the Manager OR the Players but never both in a disappointing game.

Sometimes it's evident there's an individual to blame but it seemed pretty clear to me that both the players were very sloppy and Jose hoped that would still be enough and didn't make a real tactical change until he had too.

Managers are always learning even with his experience, hopefully he takes things to work on from todays game, which im sure he will like he did after the West Ham game.

Can we all just accept that we have an excellent counter attacking gameplan, against the high quality teams, who will seek to press high and dominate; But against opposition where we need to take the game to them, we still have a lot of work to do?

Fair?
