I think pundits should stick to the football not the 'business' when they get involved in discussing the business they are out of their depth
I don’t really see what he’s said that’s so controversial to be honest.

Sounds like a bitter prick but point taken.
Surely all managerial appointments are 'marriages of convenience' to an extent? Both parties get out of it what they need etc

Its not controversial, but he doesn't know anything about our finances so why comment on it? Also I reiterate I'm not a JM fan but I don't believe this is a marriage of convenience, it a snide dig at us that he is too good for us and we are not good enough to have got him barring the circumstances we both find ourselves in now, which is sort of true, but we are not that small club anymore either. I think GN is hurting from Mourinho at UTD which was suppose to have been a marriage made in heaven. Also JM hasn't been complimentary of Utd or spoke of his time there with any fondness. And for GN a career UTD man its probably hurts a bit that JM never fell in love with the place.I don’t really see what he’s said that’s so controversial to be honest.
Exactly. Unless our support are getting all rosey eyed and think Jose is in love with us as a club and wants to build a “legacy”.
Was just about to post this. Fascinating article

Won't the fact we have hired him because we are starving for trophies mean in order to be successful he will thus have to be end up at least the 3rd most successful manager in our history and therefore creative a legacy?
.....
Yes I watched it. He dismissed us competing for the big trophies.
The tone between the pair of them was we still wouldn't be competing at the top, it was a bridge for both parties.
Did you watch it?
yeah, the big trophies being the premier league and champions league. the list of games he brought up that we'd lost were league cup and fa cup games, which he said mourinho could help turn into wins.
I'm not watching MNF but that all reads they are more worried about us than any real analysis. It's the last stick to beat us with, we've not won anything. In the short term JM will probably stem any unrest with the top players looking to leave, that's probably annoyed them. If we won something that will really shatter their world.
Yarp, nothing like spitting at a teenage girl who happens to be filming you as a sign of unbridled intelligence. Thankfully Sky saw through the terrible, provocative incitement of the proletariat teenage girl and sided with our brave JamieI thought Carragher in particular was hilarious in his analysis. He's actually pretty thick.
Went on to highlight all of the big games we've fucked up in recent years as a reason why we wouldn't succeed under JM.
The ridiculous irony being, thats why we've brought Mourinho In.
We've got to the final stages in various competitions but his experience, expertise and winning mentality is what we need to get us over the line.
I mean I thought that would be obvious to those two but apparently not.
Even as recently as a week ago, the weekend of November 23 had an altogether different look for Jose Mourinho.Post the text
I actually agreed with pretty much everything they said but there was definitely a bit of a dismissive/condescending tone with how they discussed it (Carra especially), so I can see why some have issues with it. Neville did say he's interested to see how it goes but he seemed to be more focused on explaining his 'marriage of convenience' analogy than suggesting what the potential benefits or pitfalls would be.
I do genuinely think Jose believes in this squad and it's capabilities. If City and Liverpool start to drop their level (signs of City going that way already) then I'd fancy Jose to have us well placed to capitalise. I don't think we're far off competiting at all. Maybe 2-3 quality signings. For me it's good having us written off, Mourinho will feed off of that.
